Dev Blog #1 How'd launch go?

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to start making Dev Blogs a regular thing. Even if we don't have an update ready to release, I still want you all to stay informed every few weeks on how things are going and what we are working on.

Lets start with how Launch went. A couple weeks after the big day, I posted an update about stats and a video clip talking to the audience... it went semi viral... https://x.com/RefractiveENT/status/2092288439446118455

It's always crazy when a post gets that much attention out of nowhere, it was just my big dumb face talking, so I really didn't expect it to do as good as it did. The brief summary is:

Few weeks ago I launched my first game Luminary

Week 1 grossed $100k+ in sales. Only 2% of Steam games do that, and we did it with No Funding, No Publisher, No Ads, just hard work.

Stats Today Net: $110k

After Steam's cut: $77k

All Reviews: Mostly Positive

English Reviews: Very Positive

I go over it a bit more in the video along with other things. But I always want to be completely open and honest with our community, even when it comes to money stuff that I don't really like talking about haha.

I also mentioned our reviews in the video, and while obviously I'd like less negative reviews overall, it does seem like 90% of them all say the same thing. (We like where this is going, but there's not enough content yet) and honestly that's the easier stuff to add, it's just takes time. So I feel good where things are at and where we are going. As for the next update we are working on our Weapon Runes and Vendor Leveling systemsWe wanted to try and get this update out before Matt (other dev guy) leaves for a much deserved week to spend time with his family, but it looks like we are going to miss that window. We are close but rather than rush it out where there could be problems, better to wait for him to get back after we've had time to do some proper testing. So we will get that out a couple weeks from now, hope to see you all back then. And if you have played Luminary and enjoyed yourself PLEASE consider leaving us a review on Steam. And if you didn't enjoy yourself I'd love to chat with you on Discord. We take all feedback and suggestions on how to make Luminary better into consideration https://discord.gg/NNrurAT5umI like being known as the dev with one of the the best customer service approaches, and I will keep striving to do that :)

Thanks for your support,

Keith

Making a game and putting it out into the world has always been a dream of mine. We are completely self taught, and just figuring things out as we go along. A co-op openworld ARPG is not an easy type of game to make either, and many told us we shouldn't start with something this big, but it was just the game we wanted to make…Community11 Aug 2026Luminary's Early Access - OUT NOW!Our Journey After over 4 years of testing/learning game dev, and then another 1.5 years of rebuilding it from the ground up, working on it full time with just the two of us... Luminary is FINALLY out in the world! I can't even put into words how that feels... Surreal? Accomplishment? Terrifying? It hasn't really sunk in yet.
