Rent Due 0.3.0. The White Horse Ranch Update
Three big things in this one. A whole new map, a new way to move through the world, and the game in three new languages.
White Horse Ranch, a whole new map
A third neighborhood on the county map, out past Harrison. Nine retro ranch homes on big lots, from fixer-upper singles to two-storey estates behind their own fences.
- Eight new listings, two of them at auction. Every one has its own photos, its own rooms to furnish, and its own tenant at the door.
- New room sets to buy. A library, a pantry, a storage room, extra living rooms and bedrooms. The Long Porch sells its barn as a furniture upgrade, a whole second building and a real bump to what the place rents for.
- Two estates never hit the open market. The Cattle Baron and the Land Grab are bought at the gate. Press E at the fence and the owner picks up in their own voice. Pay the asking price, make an offer from a sheet of five with real odds against their mood that day, or book a viewing and the gate stands open for you the whole next day. Lowball them and they hang up until tomorrow.
- A furnished showpiece on White Horse Road you can walk through any time. It is not for sale.
- Your employees know every ranch route and let themselves through the yard gates on the way in and out.
- A new county map with the ranch drawn in, and crisp blip icons. The ranch blip is a horse.
New player movement
The whole first person feel is new. Walking, running, jumping, crouching and looking around now come from a proper character controller with full body animation.
- You see your own body move the way you do, and the camera rides your head through all of it.
- Sprint is a touch faster. Head bob is gentle by design.
- Punches throw with the whole body.
- The eviction notice rides in your right hand, held up where you can see it.
- Crouch is on the keybinds now, next to everything else.
Spanish, French and German
Rent Due now plays in three new languages, and not just the menus.
- The entire game. Every menu, the laptop, the HUD, the calendar, the phone, the tenants at the door and Uncle Sam's whole course.
- Every voice line is recorded in each language. Sam, the twenty tenant voices, the phone calls, the doorstep talks, Earl and Ruth at the gate. The words light up in sync as they are spoken, same as English.
- The first time you start the game it asks for your language. Change it any time under Settings, on the new Language tab.
Also
- Winning an auction now says so, with a way straight to your new property.
- A neighbor complaint in Harrison can be settled at the accused tenant's door again, even with another complaint open elsewhere.
- Rent day and inspection day at the same house. Collect from the tenant at the door before you knock for the walkthrough.
- Private sales never take market price cuts, and price cut notices skip homes you cannot act on yet.
- The main menu's Discord button got its icon back.
The bug button in the pause menu sends your report straight to us with the log attached. If the ranch, the new movement or one of the new languages does something strange, that is the fastest way to tell us. Now go collect.
