Hello everyone,
Today, we’re excited to introduce the new 'Death Defiance' mechanic. We’ve also prepared some tweaks and adjustments to make combat feel punchier, add tactical depth with new armored enemies, and polish the overall core gameplay loop. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changing today:
New Mechanic: Death Defiance: Players can now escape death at the cost of 45 seconds of their remaining time. This mechanic is available once per run and becomes active starting from your second run. This will give you a second chance, but in exchange for precious time.
Weapon Rework: We wanted the primary sword to have a much stronger and more readable gameplay identity, so we gave it a complete rework. Because of this, the second sword lost its purpose, and we’ve removed it to keep the combat system clean and consistent.
Combat Adjustments: The fourth hit of the combo now deals increased damage, rewarding players who commit to the full sequence, which is especially effective against armored enemies.
Balance Changes: Overall sword damage has been slightly reduced to accommodate the introduction of armored enemies.
Armored Enemies: Nearly all enemies now have armored and non-armored variants, with the exception of the Stone Titan, which retains its permanent armor. Spawn rates for armored enemies will scale with difficulty tiers.
Stat Rebalance: Enemy HP has been rebalanced across all tiers to align with the new armor system.
Economy Adjustments: Defeat now results in a 25% loss of collected Gold upon returning to the village. This aligns much better with our recent skill tree balancing and the newly added Death Defiance system.
Enemy Spawning System: Following up on our work from the last update on the Mines maps, we have now extended the random spawning system to the first maps of the Swamps and Lostland dungeons. We also refined the enemy spawn pools for better consistency.
UI Updates: Added a hero statistics panel, allowing you to easily view your equipped Echoes (including descriptions for each item) and character stats. Simply press D-Pad Up to access the new Stat Menu.
Fixed targeting issues for archers and spellcasters.
Fixed melee enemies to ensure they no longer attack from a distance.
We’ve also migrated the project to Unreal Engine 5.8 to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
While we were cooking up this update, we’ve also been busy working on new maps and content that will be shared in our next release.
The upcoming update will focus on adding brand-new maps for the Lostland Dungeon: the “Whale Graveyard” maps, featuring new enemies and a new boss!
We are also preparing some other cool features and systems, but we’ll share more details with you when the time comes.
Thanks again for your support,
