Regular Update A-0.0.0f

Reputation System

The reputation system allows you to define how your character feels about other characters – from affection and trust to fear and respect. These attitudes are personal and may change over the course of your roleplay. They can be adjusted either directly through a command or by selecting a character’s name in an RP post. You can also decide whether the other person remains unaware, receives only a vague impression, or is openly informed of the change.

An overview of your character’s relationships can be found in the Encounter subtab of the Knowledge tab in the Character Sheet.

Capacities

Smelling

Smell has joined sight and hearing as another way to perceive the world. Use /smell to deliberately take in the scents around you, or /smelling on to remain alert to newly noticeable scents while moving.

Smoke, food, damp clothing, personal scent signatures, and lingering traces can reveal information about a location and the characters who previously passed through it. What your character can learn from them depends on their Smelling Capacity, the distance, the weather, and whether the scent is located indoors or out in the open.

Rain quickly washes away most outdoor scent traces, while enclosed spaces can retain them for considerably longer.

Vegetation

A rudimentary Flora subtab has been added to the Knowledge tab for information concerning vegetation.

Further Vegetation Changes

  • Cultures now possess appropriate prior knowledge of the local plants found in their respective homelands.

  • Bracken now provides all three of its intended items: fronds, rhizomes, and spores. These items can already be gathered, but do not yet serve any further purpose. Spores can only be collected using a sealed_container and behave like a liquid in this regard. A bottle is one example of a suitable container.

Instance Travel

  • Instance travel has been technically tested and found to be sufficiently reliable.

Character Sheet

  • The interface of the Health subtab has been updated.

  • The Notes box has been removed.

  • Bruises are now displayed in the Health subtab. Their current presentation is not yet final.

  • Further improvements to the Health subtab will follow.

3D Models for FBW

I have begun working on 3D modelling. Since I am still an absolute beginner in this field, this part of the game should be regarded as a long-term project. It may therefore take several years before the results meet my own standards.

My long-term goal for the character models is an anime-inspired style similar to the one I already favour in my 2D artwork.

Combat System

  • Several combat-related bugs observed during the contest in the Southern Outskirts have been fixed.

Buildings

A dirt texture has been added around the outer edges of buildings. This should make them appear less artificially placed and help them blend more naturally into the ground beneath them.

Controls

  • WASD character movement has been added as an alternative to point-and-click controls.

Bug Fixes

  • Lots of them.

As usual during the A-0.0.0 development cycle, all characters have once again been deleted.
