Regular Update A-0.0.0k

Combat System

  • When a battle begins, a corresponding announcement is now displayed.

  • When a battle begins in the arena, NPC combatants now talk to the player before and after the fight.

  • The sound effect signaling the beginning of a battle was too harsh and has been replaced.

Instances

  • Traveling from one instance to another now uses fade-in and fade-out effects.

  • When entering an instance, both the name of the instance and the ruling polity are now displayed. In the future, this will require both the instance and the polity to be known to the character through the Knowledge System.

  • The area blocking around city gates has been reduced.

  • Player Icon Shadow System added: When another character is spotted within the field of view and subsequently disappears from sight, your character remembers their last known position. Outside the field of view, a grey representation of their Player Icon appears at that position. This is intended to improve the player's spatial awareness while still leaving uncertainty about the character's actual current position.

  • SFX for opening and closing barrels have been added.

  • Grassland ambience sound has been added.

  • The shadow around the edges of an instance is now softer.

  • Footstep visuals have been reduced in size.

Dialogue System

  • The Dialogue UI now features animations when opening and closing.

  • Buttons have received a placeholder texture.

MapObject: Path

  • New placeholder textures for paths and roads have been added.

  • Path rendering has been reworked.

  • Experiments with blurred edges have been introduced to make softer paths, such as dirt roads, blend more naturally into their surroundings.

  • New feature: Right-clicking a path now provides the option to automatically follow it in either direction using Autowalk.

Items

  • Item added: Wooden Torch.

  • Item added: Fire Striker.

Game

  • The game icon now uses the official Firstborn World logo.

Settings

  • A Settings button has been added to the character selection screen.

  • Audio settings have been added.

  • Initial graphics settings have been added.

Chat

  • The previous Present bar has been reworked into the Nearby list. It displays the names of characters who are within range and are not currently hiding or sneaking.

Settlements

  • The foundations of the Settlement System have been implemented.

  • The first settlement has been created.

  • An Origin tab has been added to character creation, allowing players to define their character's place of origin.

  • Available origin fields include Birth Settlement, Home Settlement, and Residence Settlement.

Trust System

  • The Trust System is intended to grant players greater responsibility and privileges as they earn the necessary level of trust over time. The system is account-based and consists of five levels: Level 1 represents a fresh account, while Level 5 represents the highest level of trust. Higher levels unlock access to more powerful races and more influential character roles. At Level 3, for example, players may take on roles belonging to the lower nobility, while Level 4 grants access to roles within the high nobility. Level 5 ultimately allows particularly influential concepts such as emperors, kings, powerful mages, or other exceptionally powerful and influential characters.

Lighting & Time of Day

  • A complete day-night cycle now takes 12 hours and features smooth transitions between different times of day.

  • Nighttime is now extremely dark without a source of light.

Skills: Sneaking

  • The Sneaking skill has been added. Using /sneak or /schleichen toggles the state on and off. Sneaking affects both the visibility of the Player Icon on the map and whether the character appears in the Nearby list.

  • Sneaking reduces the movement speed of a Player Icon.

  • If a sneaking character is detected, Sneaking Mode automatically ends.

Character Creation

  • Required tabs that have not yet been completed during character creation are now marked with a red exclamation mark.

Bugs / Test Report

  • A framerate limiter has been applied to the login screen's Aurora shader, as it previously caused unnecessarily high GPU usage.
