"Sproutling diaries" are a new, weekly post where we will be sharing little tidbits of information about the game and its inner workings from the perspective of a sproutling. We hope you enjoy reading them!
My name is Mulberry. I'm one of the sproutlings who were recently sent to settle in the Junkyard zone. I had a bit of a freak out recently after a close call with some robots, and my friend Dill advised I should write my thoughts down to calm myself down. So, here we are.
Honestly, the biggest source of stress lately has been our power grid. We have a bunch of solar panels running to power our defenses, but when night falls I can't help myself but look at our dwindling power levels, and hoping they'll last until morning.
We actually had a full on blackout the other night. Power surge hit us at the wrong time, and we couldn't get everything back in order before night fell. One of our neighbours, a sproutling called Acorn, panicked, packed their bags and left on the spot. I can't say I blame them too much, but regrowing the planet is too important.
Some of the other guys were talking about some new tech they'd seen in the other zones. Apparently, they've figured out how to keep the solar panels working at night over there. No idea how they do it, I guess they can still get some power since it's not pitch black at night? They'd also mentioned something called "flood generators", which use our water sources to produce energy. It's not like we have endless reserves of water, so I'd be a bit hesitant to use them here... But between that and spending another night with the lights off, just in case the robots show up and the turrets need to be charged... It's an easy choice.
You know what, I didn't believe Dill when they suggested this, but I think it has helped calm me down a bit. The problems directly in front of me have a solution and all that. I might write in this diary more next time this happens!
