The battlefield gets a full visual pass
This update is all about presentation. Stick Wars: The Laneborn now plays out on a larger, more detailed, more alive battlefield — without changing the core of lane strategy.
Matches now take place on a rebuilt field: seamless meadows, dirt roads that follow the path, a central river crossed by a wooden bridge, and a world that is no longer an empty backdrop.
What's new
Bigger, clearer map — expanded layout, cleaner placements, easier to read fights across the lanes.
Terrain and lanes — seamless grass, more natural packed-earth lanes (no grid tiling), path-aligned textures and edges.
River and bridge — a proper water feature through the center of the map, cleaner banks, and a planked wooden bridge.
Decorations and ecosystems — flowers, saplings, mushrooms, grass tufts, pebbles, reeds, and lily pads grouped into small habitats (meadow, grove, rocky patch, glade).
Ambient wildlife — foxes, crows, porcupines, and snakes roam the grass. Atmosphere only: they do not fight and they do not affect balance.
Units and effects — soldier spritesheets cleaned up, archer facing and auras fixed, catapult projectiles easier to follow, mage fire attacks tidier.
HUD readability — health bars and strategic indicators are easier to read in the thick of combat.
Stability
We closed the visual rework with a stability pass: decoration shadows, the bridge, lane drawing, and the water overlay.
Notes
Gameplay, spawn costs, and wave pacing stay as you know them. This is a visual update: the same war, a much more living field.
Thanks to everyone in the playtest. If you spot a visual glitch or a prop sitting in the wrong place, tell us — we’ll keep polishing from here.
See you on the lanes.
