🏆 Steam Achievements are live
21 achievements are now in the playtest - first voyage, first debt paid, a full crew of four, meeting the dolphins, walking the plank, and more. They unlock for real on your Steam account, so expect toasts mid-session. Some are crew-wide (if the ship earns it, everyone aboard gets it), some are yours alone.
Fixes
- The knock-up is fixed. Getting thrown off your feet entering or leaving the bilge in a storm - and randomly on deck mid-sail - was the physics reading a lie, not a heave. Real storm heaves still knock you down; the fake ones never will. If a violent storm peak feels like it lost its punch, tell us.
- Mic lights work for the whole crew. The crew list's microphone glyph now lights when ANY crewmate talks, not just you. Voice identity was rebuilt underneath, which should also make voice generally more reliable across reconnects.
- You can't fall off the back of the ship by standing near the bell. Standing on deck edges no longer silently detaches you from the ship's motion.
- Death is now private. The crew list no longer marks anyone as down - a dead crewmate just goes quiet. Whether the silence up top is "busy" or "gone" is for you to find out.
- Dying in the bilge no longer follows you. The rushing water and hull groans stop when you die instead of playing over the spectator view.
- The figure standing on the ocean has been dealt with. It was a skeleton that refused to drown while chasing you. Bones are not buoyant; now it knows.
- Holding T and R together no longer opens both radial wheels on top of each other - the tool wheel wins.
- The crew roster no longer shows in solo - it appears when somebody joins you.
- NPC dialogue dashes no longer look like em dashes (the font's hyphen was as wide as its letter 'o' - true story).
- Fixed 11 wrongly-imported normal maps across the tavern, captain's quarters and bilge - interior surfaces light correctly now.
Known and hunting
- Tavern wall flicker on AMD - still under investigation; the F1 menu carries three toggles that help us test it.
- Nameplates can still vibrate when you're at a station - if you see it, note whether the OTHER player was walking or at a station.
- Dropped items sometimes float slightly above the deck - if you see it, note whether it was YOUR drop or someone else's.
Everyone must be on this build to play together - older builds can't join this one.
