The closed playtest is officially over!
Thank you guys so much for an awesome week. We ended up fixing nearly 400 bugs, reworking 9 major systems, and completely removing and rebuilding 3 systems from the ground up.
Some of the biggest changes made during the playtest:
Completely replaced the old inventory with a new grid-based inventory system
Added an entirely new progression system with 4 skills, 51 levels per skill, ELITE bonuses, and 56 perks
Completely rebuilt healing with quickslots, limb targeting, timed healing, and movement/combat penalties while treating injuries
Added Field Crafting with recipes that can be crafted directly from your pack
Overhauled looting and container searching to work much more like an extraction game
Reworked the Walkie Talkie/extraction system with live distance, compass directions, and automatic extract targeting
Completely rebuilt the Task Journal
Heavily reworked the Tech Tree/Research UI with prerequisites, power requirements, and proper lock explanations
Added see-through scenery/occlusion, so buildings and trees no longer hide you or nearby enemies
Reworked armor, damage, stamina, hunger/thirst, enemy spawning, Scav AI, economy, traders, sleep, saving/loading, and a huge amount more
And that doesn't even include the hundreds of smaller balancing changes, UI improvements, exploits removed, broken quests fixed, item/save corruption fixes, and other changes that happened throughout the week.
I seriously appreciate the hundreds of bug reports, feedback, suggestions, and general help everyone gave me. A huge amount of this work came directly from things you guys found or suggested while playing, and the game is in a drastically better place than it was when this test started.
Now it's time to move on to the next one.
Keep an eye out for the Open Playtest announcement on Steam soon! The open playtest is currently planned for the end of this month, and it'll be the first chance for a much larger group of players to jump in.
Thank you again to everyone who participated! ❤️
