This is our biggest update since v4.3, and it's all about one thing: protection that just works, quietly, no matter what you're doing on your screen. Whether you're deep in a game, binging a show, or alt-tabbing between both, v4.5 understands what's happening and responds the right way - every time.
The detection engine got a major brain upgrade. Fullscreen video is now recognized as video - even without a media player reporting it - and your games will never be mistaken for "media" again. Pick up a controller and the app instantly knows you're playing. Sit back to watch, and it adapts. No more wrong modes, no more guessing.
Previously, switching windows could reset the protection the app had carefully built up. Not anymore. v4.5 checks whether your screen content actually changed before starting over - so jumping to Discord and back no longer costs you anything.
The comfort layer was rebuilt from the ground up. Protection zones now blend smoothly instead of showing scattered dots, with visual noise reduced roughly 34x. The result: protection you feel less and notice less, with a render cost so small (~0.14 ms) you'll never see it in your frame rate.
v4.5 introduces a brand-new capture backend that keeps running at full speed even in demanding fullscreen games, where the old method could fall behind. It's automatic on Windows 11, with a new Capture Method setting if you want manual control. And if your graphics driver ever hiccups, the app now recovers on its own instead of silently stopping.
Lock your PC or turn off your display, and OLED Guard now goes quiet too - capture and GPU work suspend completely until you're back. Less power drawn, zero protection lost.
Honest status: if a game runs in true exclusive fullscreen where the overlay physically can't show, the app tells you straight instead of pretending.
Faster gaming response: gaming presets now build protection about 11% faster.
Fixes across the board: an HDR-toggle hang, hotkeys that stopped working, slider dead zones, a UI freeze, and "Reset everything" now truly resets everything.
Smarter bug reports: diagnostics now capture exactly what the app was thinking, making it easier than ever for us to fix what you report.
