Greetings Gravebound

Heya! My name is Mae and I am working as an intern for Grip Jaw! I work mainly as a prop and environment artist, and am a student at Future games. I could not be happier working for Grip Jaw on Begraved and I've had a really great time gaining new experiences.

Here are some work in progress things I've created while working on Begraved!

I made a painting that the player will be able to hang up in their home. At the beginning we knew we wanted the style of the painting to be reminiscent of the medieval paintings, and so we thought why not have one of those ugly cat paintings? I also added a character from the game (Lulu) to make the painting relate to it more. For this I made a simple model in Blender and drew the art in Krita!

Some furniture I made for the player to find and use. I had some cool concept images that I was inspired by and made the model in Blender as well. For the textures I reused a texture we already had in the engine and adjusted it to fit better. Here is a sort of spire stacked with urns, where I created the models of the spires and the urns in Blender. For this I also had to work with blueprints in Unreal Engine to determine the sizes and rotations of the urns when they spawn in the game. Hope you like some of the things that may pop up in Begraved in the future.

Ever since I was a child, I've always liked creating art within its different mediums and I used to paint and draw different fantasy worlds, and try to write comics and create short animations. I've always aspired to be a professional artist of some kind, and was inspired by different artists, shows and manga so below is some of my own projects.A 3D model I made based on a cool concept art I found by Mario Manzanares! My journey with game dev didn't start until I was in high school where I went through an art and animations related course. We got to learn the basics of 3D modeling and even got to do a game project together with some other students that were studying programming.

My Graduation Project for Future games here in Sweden.Something that’s kind of funny is that I got into 3D art and the world of game creation completely by accident! I applied for my high school thinking my art and animations course was going to be strictly 2D creation, and I had no previous experience with 3D beforehand other than sculpting with clay, but then got to learn 3D instead. Fortunately I still enjoyed it and found a new passion. A happy accident!

Another cool vehicle concept I found and made a model of!

I've propelled my interest and passion further through learning more with the help of the internet and the 3D communities that exist, as well as through playing some games with art that really awes me. I really enjoy games that are stylized, and also games that can blend stylized proportions with more realistic textures or vice versa. Some last things about me, I like painting, sewing dolls and reading manga. If I had to pick a game I really like, it would be Dying Light 1, Oxygen not Included and Minecraft! Also anything with Zombies!Hope you like some of the Begraved pieces i have done so far and cant wait to work on more for the future.Laters Gravebound
