This inn has seven nights' worth of rules, one revealed each night. Those rules have exceptions: among the hauntings, some kill the ones who obey.
Until now, which haunting was an exception never changed. Learn it once, and every later run was easy. The whole feeling of "the rules can betray you" was spent in a single playthrough.
From this update on, which hauntings are exceptions is re-drawn at the start of every run.
- In one run, the lamp thins and pouring oil saves you.
- In another, pouring oil into that same lamp kills you on the spot.
The step that saved you last time will kill you tonight.
This is not meant to be unfair. A run that contains an exception always shows you a sign first. On a night with no sign, following the rules is correct. The promise that reading will keep you alive has not changed. What changed is that remembering is no longer enough.
Out November 5.
