Roadmap & Complete FAQ

With Early Access starting on October 9, this post brings together our planned first post-launch updates and answers to the practical questions about buying the game, choosing a mode and taking your first soldier into battle.

Before you buy

What is Glory to the Heroes? Glory to the Heroes is a tactical, immersive mil-sim set during Russia’s war against Ukraine. You serve as an ordinary enlisted soldier in battles built around collective objectives, while developing your own character and managing personal equipment. Infantry combat, AI and environmental threats, and the risk of losing what you carry connect the wider battle to your own decisions on the ground. When does Early Access launch, and where can I play?Glory to the Heroes enters Early Access on October 9, 2026, on Steam for Windows PC. The exact launch time will be shared separately soon. Steam may still display the broader “2026” release window; October 9 is our announced launch date. How much will it cost? The regular Early Access base price is US$29.99 / €27.99 with very reasonable and flexible regional pricing adjusted for every target country, and the game will have a special temporary launch discount. What PC specifications do I need? These are the current published requirements on Steam. Both require a 64-bit processor and operating system.Minimum:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X / Intel Core i5-7600K

  • Memory: 16 GB RAM

  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1080 / RTX 3060 / AMD Radeon RX 5700

  • DirectX: Version 12

  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

  • Storage: 45 GB available space

Recommended:

  • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X / Intel Core i5-9600K

  • Memory: 32 GB RAM

  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 / RTX 4070 Ti

  • DirectX: Version 12

  • Network: Broadband Internet connection

  • Storage: 45 GB available space

These requirements reflect the current Early Access version and may differ on release. Check the Steam store page for the latest requirements and confirm your available storage before buying.Which languages and control devices are supported?English, Ukrainian, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Simplified Chinese, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese, with Ukrainian full audio. The game does not have full controller support, and we recommend playing with a mouse and keyboard. Gamepads and remote controllers (FPV / drone RC) are supported only for controlling FPV drones.

Choosing how to play

Can I play alone, offline or in a story campaign? You can take part in the multiplayer battles without bringing a premade squad in both matchmaking and persistent servers, although cooperation is central to the game. The story campaign is planned for later Early Access or version 1.0 and is not part of the Early Access launch. Some parts may arrive during Early Access, but the timing is not yet certain. Offline PvE Training mode is separate from a campaign and does not carry over online stash, quests or progression. What is the difference between PvPvE and PvE?PvPvE combines battles against other players with AI threats on the battlefield. Dedicated PvE co-op lets players fight AI as Ukrainian forces. These options change who you fight; the matchmade Contact mode and persistent Operations servers describe how the battle’s objectives work.Is GTTH an extraction shooter or an objective-based military shooter? The battle is built around collective military objectives, while your soldier, stash and equipment persist between deployments. You serve as an enlisted soldier with a place in that wider fight, and personal assignments and equipment recovery sit alongside the team’s goals. Staying alive to help win or getting out safely both matter, with the recovery rules depending on the battle’s outcome. How are Contact and Operations different?Contact is a highly lethal matchmade game mode that moves the fight along a sequence of objectives, creating a changing front as each side advances or loses ground. Operations persistent servers open the map’s capture objectives from the start, giving teams more freedom to choose where to attack and defend as well as providing options to leave and join battles whenever you want with access to personal stash on the secured objectives. Both put team objectives at the centre of the battle, alongside the equipment and personal goals you bring into it.How many people can play together, and what servers are available?Contact supports 24–48 players per match. Operations servers support up to 48 players in PvPvE and up to 24 players in PvE co-op. Community and custom server hosting is not available yet; it may be considered in the future. Our currently configured server regions are EU Central, Ukraine Central, US East and Asia (Hong Kong).

The launch battlefields

Which maps are included at launch? There are three launch maps: Fight for Krynky, Chasiv Yar - Canal and Izium Machine-building Plant. Krynky combines the Dnipro bridgehead’s village, fields and floodplain reeds with exposed approaches; Chasiv Yar mixes apartment blocks, basements and ruined streets with long sightlines. Izium Plant is the largest launch map, with factory halls, garages and surrounding housing. The much larger Battle of Izium planned on the roadmap is a separate future addition.Which factions can I play, and why is the Russian side playable?PvP includes Ukrainian and Russian forces so battles can represent opposing sides of the real conflict. PvE is played as Ukrainian forces. The setting, places and military context are part of the game’s educational, journalistic and cultural purpose; the playable opposing side serves that simulation. What threats will I face beyond other players? The battlefield includes AI enemies and modern-war hazards, including artillery, guided bombs and FPV drones. Each map and mode has its own combination of terrain, encounters and hazards. Regular PvE enemies and special battlefield encounters also serve different purposes; learning the terrain and watching for threats matters alongside winning a direct firefight. Are vehicles included at launch?Launch content includes Humvee and Ural-63095 transport vehicles, with the main combat focus on infantry. Crewed infantry fighting vehicles, tanks and artillery belong to later development. Artillery as a battlefield threat does not mean player-crewed artillery is available at launch.

Your soldier and equipment

What carries over between battles?Your online character has persistent progression, money, tasks and a stash of equipment. Progress and inventory belong to your faction character. What you bring home from a deployment depends on the equipment’s origin and whether you secure it. Online PvE and PvPvE share the same faction character, stash, money and quests. Offline PvE Training remains separate and does not carry over online progression or inventory.Do I have to risk expensive equipment every time? No. Your faction can issue free kits, while personal equipment lets you invest in the loadout you want to use. Free equipment issued by your own faction does not become permanent stash property. Your personal gear and captured items can be brought home when you survive and secure them. What happens if I die?Equipment you are carrying is at risk when you die. A team victory does not automatically restore a dead soldier’s loadout, and the equipment already stored in your stash remains separate from what you brought into the battle. When redeployment is available, you can return to the fight with an issued kit rather than having to stake another personal loadout.Do I have to extract, or can I stay and help win?Living winners can secure their recoverable equipment at the end of a battle. In Contact, defeat through objectives or attrition gives the losing side a retreat window; when the time limit ends the battle, both sides face an extraction finale. Operations has different end conditions and allows safe extraction at a friendly position. A successful extraction can bring your gear home even if your team loses, but leaving also ends your participation in the ongoing fight. How do vendors and quests fit into a team battle?Vendors, character progression and quests give your soldier reasons to acquire equipment and return to the battlefield beyond a single match result. Tasks can send you to particular places or ask you to find and bring back items. You still share the battle with teammates pursuing the collective objectives, so planning a personal task around the team’s situation is part of the game.

Combat and coordination

How much control do I have over my loadout and weapons? You manage your carried equipment and storage, and can build weapons from compatible parts and attachments. What you wear and carry affects available space, weight and mobility; damage to equipment can also affect its usefulness. Weapon setup has practical consequences for handling and the job you are preparing to do, while ammunition, armour and cover matter when shots start coming in.How do injury, medical treatment and hearing affect combat?Injuries affect how your soldier functions, with bleeding, blood loss, pain and damaged limbs making treatment and movement decisions matter. Medical supplies address different problems, and some treatments have consequences if left in place too long. Gunfire and explosions can affect hearing; active headsets change how you hear the battlefield and offer protection in some situations, rather than making every loud threat harmless. How do FPV drones work?Operating an FPV drone involves the drone, a transmitter and goggles, with battery life and the control link limiting the flight. Your soldier remains physically present and vulnerable while piloting, so finding a protected position and coordinating with teammates matters. Signal conditions and operator exposure give the other side opportunities to disrupt a sortie, and FPV availability depends on the map and loadout. How important are squad play and communication?Very. Covering an approach, treating a teammate, moving supplies or protecting a drone operator can help the battle as much as a good individual shot. Proximity voice and field radios support coordination, with field radio communication tied to physical equipment. Nearby enemies can hear powered radios, so where and how you communicate matters.

Early Access and what comes next

Why Early Access now, and what should I expect? We now have a playable, engaging core that we want to develop further with player feedback, while continuing to improve performance, balance and the individual systems. The game is still visibly in Early Access, so expect bugs, rough edges and changes as that work continues. The roadmap outlines Night Operations and new vendors; new battlefields at Serebryansky Forest and the Battle of Antonov Airport for PvPvE and PvE, alongside new gear, weapons and drone types; and the larger persistent Battle of Izium with crewed tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and player-operated artillery. The order is provisional, with no dates set. The story campaign is part of the broader future plan for later Early Access or version 1.0. Some parts may arrive during Early Access, but the timing is not yet certain. Those plans may evolve throughout Early Access. Will progression be wiped, and how often will updates arrive?Wipes are planned as part of major game updates that alter progression, economy and balance. The roadmap sets out our current development priorities. We aim to deliver major updates every 2–3 months, though the actual update sequence and frequency may evolve during Early Access.Where should I look for updates or report a problem?Follow the Steam announcements for release information and visit our official Discord to discuss the game and share feedback directly with developers and community. When reporting a bug, include what happened, the map and mode, and the steps that led to it; screenshots or a short clip can help. Please keep passwords and other private account information out of public reports.Glory to the Heroes enters Early Access on October 9, 2026.
