This update focuses on getting a fresh install translating reliably, wherever you are.

The default translation model is now included

  • Why — In some regions the model download could fail, leaving Playto unable to translate at all. The minimal model needed for translation now ships with the install, so translating works right after setup with no download. Install size grows by about 1.1GB.
  • Already downloaded it earlier? — The Models page now marks that copy; deleting it frees 1.1GB and changes nothing.
  • Background download, announced — After setup, an additional model for translation and dictionary entries (about 3–4 GB) downloads in the background. Playto now says so on the setup screen, and the download bar labels what it is for.
  • Self-repair — If the included model file is ever damaged, Playto tells you and downloads a fresh copy; verifying game files on Steam also restores it.

First-time setup fixes

  • The start screen now explains how to create a game profile when none exists yet — launch your game, then pick "+ Create new profile..." to choose its window.
  • Setup prompts (the telemetry question and the daily-reminder setup) no longer stack on top of each other; they now appear one at a time.
  • For language pairs the included model does not cover, setup now sizes, downloads and selects the right model instead of leaving a model that cannot translate your pair.

When you cannot reach us

  • If sending feedback fails — for example while offline — the app now also offers this Steam discussions board and a support e-mail address, and saved error reports say where to send them.

Other fixes

  • The capture-area frame can now be shown in every capture mode.
  • If a Windows security feature (such as Smart App Control) blocks the translation engine or removes its model file, Playto now says so and explains how to restore it.
  • Self-diagnosis now runs correctly in every capture mode.
  • Shortcut settings are now grouped by the mode they apply to.
  • While you are recording a new shortcut, existing shortcuts stay quiet instead of firing.

If something still feels off, tell us through Contact us in the app, Discord, or this Steam thread.
If Playto is part of your gaming, a short review helps other language learners find it — and we read every one.
