Major Demo Update! Co-Op, Demon mode, and a lot more

Big day, everyone. We’ve just released the biggest update the Two Sides of Hell demo has ever received, and it’s available now for free on Steam.

This update introduces the gameplay loop of the first level, including Demon Mode, local co-op, Steam Remote Play Together support, and a completely reworked progression system with unlockables, improved resource balancing, more upgrades to discover, visual and audio improvements and a lot more.

Local co-op: bring a friend

Two Sides of Hell was always meant to be played with someone next to you. Now you can take on planet Keller together, side by side on the couch or with a friend anywhere else through Steam Remote Play Together. Two soldiers means double the guns and a lot more chaos on screen. The game also gets much harder once the second player joins, so co-op stays a real fight rather than easy mode.

A better way to power up: roguelike, Power Plates & Quests

At heart this is a roguelike: fast, run and gun through a hand-drawn world, and no two runs play out the same. We've changed how you grow stronger as you go. Power Plates are build-defining pickups that change how your soldier plays, so you can find a combination that fits the run you're having and lean into it. Quests give you objectives to chase mid-fight and reward you for pushing deeper. There are new unlockables to earn, the resource economy is better balanced so every pickup matters, and there's more to upgrade. Rescue Linda and Sam, grab randomized weapons, and see how far one run can take you.

Sharper guns, bigger bosses, and a brand-new intro

We've put real work into how the game looks and sounds. Every weapon has new VFX, so your shots land with more weight, and there are new guns to find. The bosses got polished too: the fights are tougher, the animation is better, and they're more of a spectacle to bring down. Our audio partners delivered a big music and SFX upgrade you'll feel as much as hear. And the game now opens on a brand-new animated intro that sets the scene before the first shot.

Demon Mode

This is the moment the game is named for. Clear the demonic arena and you don't win. You change. The guns are gone, and what's left is the Demon: faster, meaner, and right in the enemy's face, tearing through whatever's still standing. It's a short taste in the demo, and it's where a much bigger idea starts.

A look ahead: the Evolved Demon

And it doesn't stop there. We've been building the Evolved Demon, the next stage of the transformation. You can't play it in this demo yet, but we couldn't wait to show you where this is going. Consider it a warning.
