MEET THE BEASTS - Mandrill

The Mandrill embodies a warning: when mankind falls into conflict with nature.. Beasts are born! Emboldened by extraordinary mutations, the Mandrill quickly rose to prominence establishing himself among the Beasts. Using his wit, regenerative bone attacks and an enraging buff scream that accelerates his abilities to super-Mandrill speed... watch out for this one.

Beast Concept:

Like our other Kaijus, inspiration for the Mandrill came straight from its real-world counterpart. In nature, Mandrills rely on their intelligence, brute strength and commanding presence to dominate the jungle floor. The BeastLink battlefield is no different, which made scaling those features to Kaiju proportions a no-brainer. Considering kaijus, at their core, are built to command attention through their sheer size and power, the Mandrill checks all the boxes for a perfect Beast brawler. We knew we would need a giant and agile primate with long arms!

Efecto Studios brought us this Beast concept initially. In the wild Mandrills are incredibly expressive and dynamic animals. They have giant teeth, very human-like expressions and have evolved to be brightly colored. Using this real world information, the talented developers at our sister studio meticulously crafted the Mandrill to show obvious signs of serumatic mutation while also portraying its strength and versatility.  With bones protruding through its flesh that can be fashioned into weapons and giant claws which grow from its wrist, the Mandrill is a unique Beast like any other.

Special Abilities:

Build a Ball - Serumatic adaptation has increased Mandrill intelligence to use its environment against its foes. Build a ball constructs a ginormous ball sourced from building wreckage which can be used as a defensive measure; or a savage high damage attack where the Mandrill digs its retractable claws into the Earth and kicks the ball with all its might, shattering into an opponent Beast!

When you aren't engaged in battle, you can use the ball as a tool to level the city, or any human that dares to stand in your way.

Thrown Bone - Using a regenerative bone on his shoulder the Mandrill will break this bone off and fashion it into a projectile weapon, hurtling it towards opponent beasts or any obstacle in its way! Beasts struck by the thrown bone will fall down and must recover from the impact. Human players will wish they played more dodgeball…

Enraged Scream - The enraged scream buff channels the serumatic mutations within the Mandrill and pushes its abilities to Super-Mandrill heights. With increased attack speed for 60 seconds, fear the Mandrills' enraged fury!

Unlockable Skills:

Claw Jab - Two quick jabs with retractable claws into the enemy beast.

Brutal Headbutt - This is where the Mandrill’s wits come into play, not only does it kebab its enemy with bludgeon jabs to their side, it also uses its head to knock it out with a powerful headbutt.

Beatdown - Grants additional mind sync

Enraged Berserk - When knocked below 20% health in a battle, Mandrill will attack twice with each attack selected.

Death Bringer - When attacking during Enraged Berserk, Mandrill has a 15% chance to use a free Special move instead of a second attack.

Do you have what it takes to tame the beast?
