DRIFT in the window is now the plugin


The DRIFT module and the MPE Drift plugin ran on the same idea with different engines. 3.0 closes that gap: the module in the window is now the plugin, lane for lane. Strum, arpeggiator ratchet and scale drift join the five lanes, every lane gets its own start point and phase, the tempo divisions run from 16/4 down to 1/64, and 24 factory presets in five sections come along. The tile carries the plugin's field view as well: trails on every channel, ghost lines for pedal and wheel while nothing sounds, a scope timeline per note and clickable lanes.

The PB / Mod tile learns a third style: the Expression Pad. A stack of tilting rings you play with the mouse. Dragging sends real channel pressure and CC74 to every sounding note, both values spring back to zero when you let go, and it holds properly: a note that starts under your hand is given the value at once, a note that is already fading keeps what you gave it, and letting go clears only what the pad itself wrote last.

Microtonal grows a full Tuning group. Five scales: quarter tones as split keys, just intonation, any number of equal steps from 2 to 96, or a custom list of cents or ratios, typed in or loaded from a Scala .scl file. The root and the concert pitch of A4 are both yours to set, anywhere from 390 to 493 Hz, and every key shows how far it sits from equal temperament. The tuning leaves the app as well: keys played with the mouse or the typing keys carry it in their own bend, notes from your controller are retuned on their channel, and the synth downstream sounds the scale you picked. On screen, a stepped mouse glide now shows its step: the dot, the rings and the lamp jump to the sounding field, which gets a thin glowing rim, while a hardware bend still glides through the terraces.

The Grand Staff writes your way. Note labels read as names, as degrees of the key or as sol-fa syllables. Chord labels read as lead-sheet symbols, as Roman numerals or as figured bass. Noteheads stay round or become the seven shape notes, and a guitar or ukulele fingering can sit above the detected chord, on screen and on the printed sheet. Bar lines now run through the live views too, and clock, sheet and recording count from one zero point.

The Stream Log gains a fifth view, Tracker, writing the note rows the way a tracker column writes them, with its own preset pair. And a loaded MIDI file brings more than its notes: its time signature, its key signature and its lyrics come along.
A MIDI output fix worth having. Channel Pressure now leaves the app as the correct two-byte message: Mouse Mode pressure reaches your synth, exported MIDI files keep their note-offs after the first pressure change, and notes played on the computer keyboard no longer vanish from the screen after eight seconds of holding.Also new

  • A design pass over the whole surface: the app grounds itself in black and gray, headers form groups, corners follow one grammar, and Reset reads the product's own factory values

  • The zone wheel spans two semitones, not forty-eight: a device bend on channel 1 is the zone wheel and is drawn as such everywhere, and the notation sheet no longer counts it twice on replay

  • Faster cold start: the depth model loads on first use instead of at boot, and the FORGE link no longer holds the window up

  • The Dark keyboard gets its own dark bed, the mouse strike follows the pressure lever, and the typing glide recenters the wheel at the end of a phrase

  • The continuous sustain pedal is debounced, and Panic also clears the microtonal detune
