SUPERVIVE Season 2 is Coming!

SUPERVIVE Season 2 is launching on October 22nd! In between all the bugfixes and patch notes, we wanted to write down some of our thoughts at the end of our first “real” season. Even though our official launch was in July, we’re approaching a full year of 24/7 live service for SUPERVIVE, which is a big milestone for our small team! We started developing SUPERVIVE with the ambitious goal of making a competitive PvP live service game you could play for thousands of hours, and to do so with a small, nimble group of developers who are invested in the player experience. A year has given us a lot of time to celebrate successes, make plenty of mistakes, and learn and reflect as we go.

Going into Season 2, we’re looking to sharpen our focus on SUPERVIVE’s competitive core combat, making mastering SUPERVIVE more clear and rewarding, and keeping in closer collaboration with the community as we go.

Community

We want to invest more into the SUPERVIVE community this season. To start with, we’re going to continue releasing dev updates in Season 2, using them as an opportunity to preview upcoming changes, sharing more about our goals and the problems we’re trying to solve. If there are specific questions or topics you’d like us to cover, please let us know on our Discord or in the comments!

Another thing we’re doing in Season 2 is increasing our support for community tournaments. The dedicated SUPERVIVE competitive community has always been super passionate, and we want to do better to support events, with additional features, visibility, and prize support.

On the features side, we’re excited to share that we’ll be releasing a Custom Games browser in Season 2. We’ve had custom games in SUPERVIVE for a while now, but organizing and joining them is often a pain due to needing to share codes or add people to your friends list. We hope that a game browser will decrease some of the overhead needed from our tournament organizers.

In terms of visibility, we have an official section in our Discord where we’ll be sharing upcoming SUPERVIVE tournaments, and we’re also starting to stream community events on our Twitch Channel, and promote them on social channels and in the client. And we’re also chipping in with prize support, both for in-game currency and cash prizes. Hit us up at [email protected] if you’d like to apply for any official event support!

The VIVE Council

Speaking of our competitive community, over the last month we’ve started running a patch preview build with a small group of high elo players before release. This has been invaluable for us to get balance feedback, first impressions on new features and more. Working in game development, you quickly learn how much better than you the community gets, and we’re so grateful for everyone who’s jumped in to help share their insights. If you’re a high-level player who wants to help us make SUPERVIVE better, give early impressions on balance, chat with devs, and get exclusive rewards, you can apply to join the VIVE Council here! We’ll be keeping this group pretty small and focused on English-speaking regions for now, but will be on the lookout to bring in more players in the future.

Season 2

Later this week, we’ll be going over Season 2 content in a fireside chat with Jess Nam, our Executive Producer. Then the full 2.00 Patch Notes drop the following week on 10/21. Along with balance and bugfixes, we’ll have over a dozen new armory items (which everyone will be granted automatically), a new hunter, battlepass, ranked season, systems changes, and more! One more thing we’ll be doing during Season 2 is prototyping new competitive modes - with the goal of expanding SUPERVIVE’s core combat magic beyond BR and Arena. We’ll be testing these modes out on specific patches to get early feedback. The first of these is a multi-team 2v2 Tournament Mode, which the VIVE Council will be testing tomorrow before it goes live in patch 2.00. (This seems like a good time to plug that signup form again).

There’s plenty more to come in SUPERVIVE Season 2, so stay tuned! And if you happen to be a wisp who sees a glowing red light in the distance…don’t go towards it.

~ The ViV Team
