Prisma Party Preview - 12/10 Dev Blog

Hello SUPERVIVERs! Today we’ve got a few followups from last patch, but we’re mainly focused on previewing our next prototype game mode - Prisma Party - slated to release in Patch 2.04. Let’s jump to it.

2.03 Follow-ups

Small stuff here, but wanted to call out a couple changes. First, a change that missed our cutoff for 2.03 was adjusting RP gain for Arena/Tournament Ranked - specifically to address the edge cases where a team could win a match and still end up losing RP due to MMR differentials. We released a hotfix last week removing the variance in RP gains based on MMR - so you’ll now gain a flat amount every time. This will likely mean RP gains are faster overall, but we’d rather have that world than the frustration of losing RP after winning.

Another change based on your feedback is for the “recommended item” system introduced in 2.03. We’ve seen players who prefer using the full shop expressing frustration that there’s now an additional click required to get to the main screen. In 2.04, we’re adjusting so that the shop will remember your last preference - so if you move into the full shop once, that will be your default going forward. Shopaholics rejoice!

Prisma Party

In Patch 2.04 - we’ll be releasing our third prototype mode of Season 2. Welcome to the Prisma Party!

Prisma Party features two teams of 6 racing to be the first to collect and upload 500 Prisma. There are three sources of Prisma on the map.

  • Minion camps that respawn on the upper and lower sides of the map

  • The Heart in the center of the map, which regularly produces Prisma

  • Other players 😈

In order to secure the Prisma for your team, you have to make your way to one of the two Upload Stations above and below the Heart. Uploading Prisma also makes you vulnerable, so you’ll have to balance sneaking in for a quick upload versus rallying your team to push enemies off the point.

Besides the reliable sources of Prisma from Minions and the Heart, fighting players is the highest risk/reward way to get Prisma. Killing any player drops a baseline amount of Prisma, as well as all the Prisma they were carrying. So as tempting as it may be to collect hundreds of Prisma and upload it all at once, your team may not appreciate you losing everything to a sudden gank.

Prisma Party also continues some of the learnings from our previous mode, Domination. Specifically we’re keeping the larger team sizes and the unlocked items/levels, so you can set up an initial build and then focus on fighting.

We look forward to seeing what you think of Prisma Party in Patch 2.04!
