Hi Survivors!

The team has been heads-down in the bunker this sprint. While the designers are busy cooking some massive new content, the dev team has been focused on the feel of the game—specifically making sure the first time you play feels like a smooth ride (before the world ends, of course).

Here’s the breakdown of what’s new:

The New Survivor’s Guide (FTUE)

We’ve been refining the First Time User Experience. No one likes reading a manual while being chased by mutants, so we’ve scripted a brand-new, linear tutorial mission.

  • Meet Mike: We’ve scripted a brand-new linear tutorial mission where Mike introduces gameplay elements one by one.

  • A Little Bit of Luck: We’ve subtly nudged the tutorial RNG to be a bit more "forgiving." It’s not total hand-holding, but we want you to learn the ropes without getting wiped in the first five minutes.

  • Smart Pop-ups: We’ve added situational prompts that only appear for specific, niche mechanics so they don't clutter your screen when you don't need them.

Steam Deck & Gamepad Support

We know many of you want to survive the apocalypse from the comfort of your couch (or on the bus). We are officially in Steam Deck readiness mode.

  • Readability First: We’ve swapped out long blocks of text for shortened descriptions with in-line icons. It’s much punchier and easier to read on handheld screens.

  • Visual Cues: We’ve added better feedback for interactables—think mouse pointer changes and more obvious highlights when navigating with a joystick.

  • Rebind Everything: Total control is yours. We’ve implemented easy rebinding for both Keyboard/Mouse and Gamepads.

That’s it for this sprint! We’re heading back into the ruins to keep polishing. As always, thanks for sticking with us through the apocalypse.

Stay safe out there!
