Hi Steam Community!

Our winter milestone is wrapping us nicely!

Last week was our 2nd in-person playtest event for this prototype of DUST TO DUST. It was the first time we assembled ghost and medium features into one cohesive 15-min game sequence.

Players’ feedback was very encouraging and also pushed us to quickly improve on level design from one session to the next.

There is a lot of fine-tuning needed to make player movement as smooth and punchy as we want it to be, but those early versions were enough to provide a fun experience, despite the graybox environments and numerous bugs.

Leaping higher!

(Not as high as that vacuum cleaner...)

One feature we really wanted to add to our core moveset was the ability to leap higher and higher when you take control of the medium’s body. So here it is!

If you hit a spectral target when you attack, you can jump and dash again right away, without having to touch ground.

This feature will allow us to design new platforming challenges, but most importantly it will give you lots of options to run circles around the gigantic enemies!

Reaching further!

One thing we did not expect with this prototype was to capture the attention of a new incredible partner: Kodansha Creators’ Lab!

Unlimited Spoons is one of four French indie video game studios selected to attend Indie Game Lab Japon, a 3-week workshop in Tokyo with Japanese publisher Kodansha’s Creators’ Lab in May.

We hope to have a first rough draft of Dust to Dust’s vertical slice by then, so our Japanese mentors can pick it apart and help us improve on our game & narrative design.

The programme also includes a trip to Kyoto for Bit Summit, so… maybe see you there?

We are very excited to connect with the Japanese indie scene! Dev or gamer, let us know if you'll be there!
