Heya, droppin' a new version of Quantum Loop with a couple actual real new features as well as a couple fixes and improved polish. Very cool to be pushing the first update that isn't just bug fixing!
This is a bit of a quirky one! Many achievements now unlock "skin", changing your ship to look like a different character from the game. Some characters have both a normal white version and a colour (red/accent colour) version available. Most of these are admitedly pretty silly!
You can select a skin by selecting the corresponding achievement the Achievements menu. Note you must have unlocked the achievement on that save file, having it unlocked on your Steam profile alone isn't enough.
I've added a button at the bottom of this menu to reset your skin as well.
I wanted this feature for launch but had to cut it for time, very happy to have it in now :)
Analogue movement has been added for joystick and trigger inputs!!!!!!!!!!!
There have been no changes to the actual movement feel for digital controls, and technically if you instantly 'bottom-out' the triggers and sticks then it'll be basically identical. But it adds a nice bit of nuance when using a controller, and feels more natural.
To facilitate some of the new ship skins being accent-coloured, the player now draws on top of other things. This is mostly noticable with asteroids, which now draw behind the player ship.
The "Currently tracking: []" text in the compass menu now has a background, consistent with all other UI elements in the menu system.
Fixed various issues for non-16:9 aspect ratios:
Achievement menu now correctly renders achievements spanning all the way to the bottom of taller aspects. (previously anything below where 16:9 would end was cut off)
The log screen now shows as many lines as will fit on the screen, regardless of aspect. (previously showed a preset number of lines)
"MISSION FAILED" text, and other vertically centered text elements are now correctly centred in ultrawide aspects.
By the way, in case you missed it, I made a post about how to get the game working on Steam Deck and Linux machines:
All the best! Danks for playing my game gamers :)
