First Week Lookback + What’s to Come

Evolve Lab has now been out in early access for one week. It’s incredible to see that over a thousand of you have already created more than 30,000 creatures.

I love seeing the different builds you are coming up with and I am excited to watch the meta take shape in the days ahead.

It has also been amazing to see so many content creators cover Evolve Lab. If you haven’t watched them yet, I highly recommend searching for Evolve Lab on YouTube.

It makes me really happy to see a small and dedicated community beginning to form :)

Your feedback matters

I am constantly collecting your feedback and using it to guide the future of the game. If you have been enjoying Evolve Lab, it would mean a lot if you could take a moment to write a review. Reviews not only help me improve the game by showing what you like and what could be better, but they also help new players discover it and grow the community.

Tentative Roadmap

I have put together a rough roadmap of what will be added and changed. The order and priority may shift depending on your feedback, but my plan is to release a new patch at least every two weeks.

Here is what I am working on:

Extra Lives on all planets

Many of you have asked for this, so I will be adding the option to choose one or two extra lives instead of multiple creatures on all current and future planets.

Faster Progression

If players struggle to get a strong run early on, unlocking new content can take longer than intended. I will adjust the research points earned for reaching certain depths to make progression smoother.

Post-Combat Screen

After each battle, you will be able to look at the creature you just fought. In later updates I also plan to add more detailed combat stats to this screen.

Skins and Hats

I’m certain many of you have already collected quite a few pioneer tokens. Once this feature is ready, you will be able to use them to unlock skins and hats, which can then be added to your creatures by spending research or deep research points. These will not alter the gameplay in any way and only change how your creature looks.

Rotating Planets

Rotating planets will be time-limited with a small selection of creatures and shop options, and possibly even special rules. They are designed to add more variety to the game.

Planet 5 and unstable planets

New planets are of course on the way. Each planet will come with 2 new creatures, 10 new actions, 4 new modules, and 12 new cores. Before all content for a planet is finished, I will occasionally release unstable versions where players can test some of the new content. Keep in mind that not everything shown there will necessarily be added permanently, and some elements may change significantly.

Better Depth Overview

I want to redesign the depth overview and expand the information it shows so that you can see how many fights your creature is winning and other stats you might be interested in. I am also considering adding a leaderboard to the depth overview.

More Polish

Mechanically the game is already in a good place, but presentation can always be improved. I plan to add new particle effects, sound effects, and enhancements to the UI and existing textures.

Performance and Networking Improvements

The game runs smoothly for most players, but a small group has reported performance or connection issues. I will continue to work on fixes and optimizations to minimize these problems.

Please keep in mind that I am working on this project mostly alone, so it may take some time to implement all of these features.

Once again, thank you all so much for playing, sharing your thoughts, and helping shape Evolve Lab into the best game it can be. Having all of you here is what motivates and fulfills me the most while working on the game :D
