Light and Stealth systems changes

First of all, almost any light source can now be destroyed. And now light affects the player's visibility to enemies. Thus, the player can change the environment and gameplay to suit his playing style.
Next, UV lamps and hidden inscriptions and signs on the walls were added, which are visible only in the dark under the light of a UV lamp. Hand lamps and tripod lanterns can now be moved!

The following parameters affect the player's visibility to enemies:

  • Whether the room light is on or off.
  • Whether is a working light source near the player or not. Each light source has a power that affects the player's visibility.
  • Whether the player's flashlight is turned on or not. Turning on a flashlight in the dark greatly increases the player's visibility!
  • Whether the player is standing or crouched.
  • Enemy's sight power

An issue where enemies would notice the player at close range from behind has also been fixed. You can now use a flashlight to lure enemies to eliminate them one by one.

The entire station has been divided into small zones, which significantly increased performance, because now only the zone in which the player is and those neighboring it are active. We also reduce the spread of noise in neighboring zones.

Gameplay changes

  1. We decided to hide enemies' healthbars by default. It was breaking immersion, hiding added more tension to the game and increased the horror component. But you can still enable it through the options.
  2. The "Broken" status has been added to weapon screens, which are impossible to miss.
  3. Shotgun spreading was reduced. But it's no longer affected by Perception stat.
  4. We have changed auto assign order for stimpacks to prevent wrong usage.
  5. If a weapon is broken, the repair kit only repairs it 10%, rather than the usual 25%. This is necessary to make the sale and repair of broken weapons unprofitable.

Levels changes

  1. A new supply room in the second lab.
  2. We've changed the colors of some rooms to make the station more livable.
  3. Some plants were added to green rest room.

What's next?

We will continue to improve the demo version and release updates in parallel with the development of the main game.
We are currently working on a model of overalls for a Cassiopeia station employee. On its basis, dead members of the station and various enemies will be created. Some of them will be armed with firearms, some will use PSI abilities.

Nearest plans:

  • Development and addition of new enemies and improvement of their AI
  • Re-voicing of audiologists and incoming messages
  • Reworked intro, improved training on basic mechanics
  • New PSI abilities
  • New melee weapons, firearms, grenades and mines
  • And much more!

Thank you for being with us. Together we will make a great game!
Lonely Space team!

In the meantime, we've been working hard on new levels, mechanics, enemies, weapons, and gameplay improvements. We also signed with Ultimate Games, a publisher, which will allow us to focus on game development, release the game faster, and deliver higher-quality work. We aim to release the full game (not EA) in the first quarter of 2027. However, t…
