A rebuilt data terminal, a living economy that finally adds up, and a whole set of new products
This is by far the largest update MarginCall has had. The entire data terminal was rebuilt to read clearly at a glance, the commodity markets and the production economy were joined into one living system, and underneath it all the economy was rebuilt to be sound. Value is conserved from end to end, every way to make money from nothing is closed, and prices now hold steady and believable across a long game. Your net worth reads the same figure everywhere it appears. Existing saves are compatible.
The money in the world now behaves like real money. It is created, moved and destroyed only when it should be.
Value is conserved across the whole simulation. Cash can no longer appear from nowhere or quietly vanish. Every transaction now has a real source and a real destination.
Several ways to make money from nothing are closed. These included a production division that printed unlimited profit forever, a debt trick that erased a loan when you wound a division down, a division paying you a special dividend out of borrowed money, and taking your own company public to roughly double your net worth for free. All gone.
The businesses you build now pay you. Operating profit and the money you recover from closing a facility now reach your spendable treasury, so the build a business and earn loop works the moment you start it, and the value of the businesses you own now counts toward your net worth.
Tax and margin are honest. Moving company money to your personal account is now taxed like a salary, gains on selling property, vehicles and luxuries are taxed, and cash held as margin can no longer be spent a second time.
Your net worth is one number. The header, the scoreboard, your goals, achievements, ranks and your estate now all read the same figure, and it counts everything you own, from operating businesses to lifestyle assets. Your estate no longer leaves out your crypto, funds, options and other holdings.
Wash sale accounting is corrected. Buying a position back soon after selling it at a loss, and selling across a stock split, are now handled properly, and a disallowed loss is sized to the shares you actually repurchased rather than the whole sale.
Your realised profit now reads the same figure on every screen that shows it.
The commodity market and the production economy used to be two separate worlds that only shared names. They are now one system.
A company that mines gold now sells it at the live market price, and a company that needs gold buys it at the live market price. What the world produces and consumes feeds real supply and demand back into the market, so prices reflect the economy behind them.
Every tradeable commodity now has a full chain behind it: something to extract or grow it, something to process it, and finished goods made from it. Rival companies operate mines, oil and gas wells, farms, ranches, plantations, forestry, refineries, mills and factories across all of them.
The market gained many new commodities and goods, including silver, platinum, palladium, aluminium, zinc, nickel, lead, tin, uranium, natural gas, coffee, sugar, cocoa, oranges and rubber, and finished products such as jewellery, machinery, appliances, beverages, confectionery, juice, furniture, tyres, batteries and nuclear power.
Commodity prices now stay stable and realistic over a long game. Energy, softs, metals, grains and livestock hold their footing instead of slowly sliding toward zero, while still responding to shocks, seasons and genuine supply and demand. Prices can no longer crash to nothing or run away to the sky.
Owning a large mine or well no longer prints free money. Extracting at scale now depresses the price you sell at, so a big operation faces real diminishing returns.
Leverage up to twenty times now works as intended. A fully leveraged position is no longer closed the instant you open it, while high leverage still carries real risk on even a small move against you.
Stock splits now reach your options and convertible bonds. A split used to quietly wipe an option position or fabricate a large phantom liability that could force you into liquidation. Options and convertibles now keep their value through a split, exactly like your shares do.
Share counts stay conserved through bankruptcies, splits and delistings, across every kind of holder in the market, so nothing goes missing or gets counted twice.
Orders in the commodity, currency and futures markets now check that you can afford them before they fill, and thin markets can no longer print a violent single tick jump on one trade.
Written options can now be bought back to close even when your spare cash is tied up as margin, so you can always step out of a losing short.
Futures settle correctly at expiry, with a choice of cash settlement or physical delivery, the economics net out to the price you entered at, and the physical delivery option only appears for contracts that can actually be delivered.
Newly listed rival companies now arrive with realistic finances and open at the price they were advertised at.
A stake below fifty percent in another company now correctly collects its dividends, and futures no longer book a phantom loss at expiry when a reference price is briefly unavailable.
The trading desks in the side markets can now be worn down by bad trades rather than being topped up forever, and rebalancing an index fund no longer trades against your own resting orders.
Rival companies now operate around the world rather than only at home, and each company's demand follows its own country's economy.
The bond market's yields now feed into how companies are valued, so government debt and interest rates reach share prices, and business and consumer confidence in the other countries now moves with their own economies instead of sitting frozen.
Facilities of the same size no longer report the exact same output value. Each one now earns a naturally varied amount.
Building somewhere now shows you real numbers before you commit: how rich the location is in a given resource, what extraction, energy and input costs look like there, how far it is from market, and a projected first year profit, in place of the old placeholders that read as not modelled.
Data Centers now earn from server hosting as well as crypto mining.
Research and Development facilities now genuinely improve your own operations over time, and nuclear power is available as a Power Plant output mode, running on reactor fuel refined from uranium.
Long term charts for every asset. Commodities, currencies, crypto, bonds, futures and funds now build a full daily, weekly and monthly history and keep it after you save and reload. Previously these charts held only a few days and were lost on load.
The financial statements now come in daily, monthly, quarterly and annual views, and each one shows the figures for that period rather than the same numbers everywhere. Duplicate dates are gone, and every period shows a full income statement instead of blank or missing rows.
Company valuation now measures inflation against each country's own target and only applies a book value floor to companies that are genuinely losing money, and corporate bond prices now match across the chart, the quote and the price you trade at.
Every data screen was rebuilt in one clean, consistent style so you can read it at a glance instead of parsing it.
Framed, colour coded panels and aligned tables replace the old blocks of text. Gains read green, losses red and warnings amber, across the Dashboard, Risk, Valuation, Scanner, Screener, Economy, My Company, Life, Assets, Scoreboard, Financials, Analysis, Company, Macro, Connections and Countries.
Each screen now opens with a band of headline figures, so the numbers that matter most sit front and centre: net worth, cash and profit on the Dashboard, price, market cap and rating on Financials, growth, inflation and rates on Macro and Countries.
The up and down arrow keys now step between companies on any single company screen, so you can move through the names you are watching without reaching for the mouse.
New framed panels throughout: a technical indicators panel on Analysis, a net worth summary on Assets, an ownership band on Connections, a country summary on Countries, and a world overview on Economy, along with a country filter on Facilities.
Screens you are watching now update at a steady pace tied to the game hour, so their figures move as time passes rather than only when the day rolls over.
The starting company now opens with ten million in capital, Restart now begins a fresh world rather than returning to the main menu, people, cities and indices now carry real names in place of placeholder labels, and the duplicate clock was removed from the Dashboard since the header already shows the time.
Your trade notes are now a proper part of the terminal.
Notes now save with the game and carry a conviction rating, a price target and a stop for each idea.
A live panel shows your current position in the name, your cost, your profit and loss, how the price sits against fair value, and how the trade has fared since you wrote the note.
Saved notes read as rich cards with the price and date you wrote them, the move since, and your targets, so you can see at a glance whether a thesis is playing out.
Fixed the Economy screen coming up empty. The same underlying timing fault was quietly holding several other rebuilt screens back from updating on their own, and they all refresh on time now.
Fixed a flicker where rows you cannot click, such as the producer list for a product, would light up one after another as the cursor passed over them.
Fixed the trading chart advancing unevenly at the fastest speed, moving a little, then a lot, then a little. It now steps forward at a steady pace at every speed.
Fixed a News headline that could open the wrong screen, the in game calendar opening twice, and the Eat action on the Life screen spending cash while you were already full.
Fixed the last row of a couple of tables on the Economy screen sitting just below its box, so every row now sits inside the frame.
The Supply Chain screen now scrolls within each stage so you can reach every entry, and hovering over a list and scrolling now moves that list in the direction you expect.
The Ownership screen now scrolls to reach every holder, the Analysis bid and ask figures fit inside their panel, sourcing buttons read clearly, capacity sliders no longer overhang their track, and the day change percentage on the markets list now measures from the day's open.
Cleaned up a large number of on screen messages, notices and news headlines so they read clearly and translate cleanly.
The bond issue size shown is now an honest indicative figure rather than a number that never changed, and the inheritance shown on the death screen now matches what your heir actually starts with.
Saving and loading now preserves your full economic state exactly, from cash and holdings to commodity prices and chart history.
Corporate control actions such as activist campaigns now keep their cooldowns across saving, so a reload cannot reset them, and a save written by a newer version now warns you rather than loading silently and dropping data.
Removed several idle background calculations that were doing no useful work, for smoother long games, while keeping the world fully deterministic so the same game plays out the same way.
