Some of you may already know Morhval from its original form: a text-based RPG built around choices, consequences, character development and the freedom to create your own story. That was where this world began.
As the project continued to grow, its ideas became larger than the original format could comfortably contain. At the same time, I was developing another project focused on first-person exploration, procedural worlds and systemic sandbox gameplay. Eventually, I decided to bring both projects together.
The result is something new: a personal, original and ambitious first-person sandbox RPG that combines Morhval’s narrative foundations with a large simulated world you can physically explore. In Morhval: Ravenglaire, there is no single path you are required to follow. You can accept quests and personal favors, explore dungeons, join factions, study magic, hunt monsters, farm, fish, craft equipment, brew potions, steal, buy property, build relationships, support (or abandon) your family, ride horses and transport cargo by wagon. Your skills improve through use. Settlements and characters react to your actions. Crime has consequences. Ordinary work can become personal, and small decisions may shape the life your character builds inside the province.
The original text campaign has not been abandoned. It remains an important part of Morhval’s history and will be incorporated into the new 3D game in a future update. Players who knew the project in its earlier form will eventually be able to experience that story again as part of this expanded version of the world.
This Early Access release is only the beginning. Ravenglaire will continue to receive new locations, quests, enemies, equipment, systems, improvements and fixes as development continues. The game is already large and playable, but it is also experimental, complex and still growing. Bugs and rough edges may appear, and feedback will be extremely valuable during this process!
Morhval began as words on a screen. It has now become a province you can enter, explore and live within.
Thank you to everyone who followed the project in its original form, everyone who offered feedback during development and everyone discovering Ravenglaire for the first time.
Choose your own path. Build a life in Ravenglaire.
