Today I improved several important parts of Shadowforge, including the animation timeline workflow and the blur effects system.
The timeline has been redesigned to provide a more stable animation workflow.
Removed the ADD/DEL frame controls.
The timeline now uses a fixed frame structure.
Frame management is more reliable and avoids surface resizing problems.
Animation data stays organized without changing the timeline structure while working.
Added a cleaner workspace control:
+ button opens the timeline.
- button closes the timeline.
The timeline panel can now be hidden when you need more space for drawing.
Clicking a frame in the timeline now synchronizes the workspace:
The selected frame becomes the active animation frame.
The canvas switches to the correct frame surface.
The timeline highlight follows the active frame.
The layer surfaces and drawing surface stay connected.
The timeline now correctly connects animation frames with their layers.
The surface system has been improved so:
Timeline frames display the correct artwork.
Layers remain connected to their corresponding frame.
The active drawing surface always matches the selected timeline frame.
This makes editing animations much smoother and prevents frames from accidentally showing the wrong content.
The blur effects in Shadowforge have also been improved.
Enhanced the blur processing for smoother results.
Improved the way blurred surfaces are handled.
Reduced visual issues when applying blur effects.
Made the effect blend more naturally with the artwork.
The blur system now works better with Shadowforge's surface workflow:
Better connection between effect surfaces and the final canvas.
Improved handling of processed layers.
More consistent results when applying effects.
Today's improvements make Shadowforge more powerful for animation and visual editing:
✅ More stable timeline workflow
✅ Easier frame navigation
✅ Better layer/frame synchronization
✅ Cleaner workspace controls
✅ Improved blur effects
✅ More reliable surface handling
Shadowforge continues moving toward a complete pixel-art and animation creation environment.
