Version 2.3.0 – The Disciplines
The one-ultimate-per-hero model is gone. Every hero now has three Disciplines — equippable active abilities with their own upgrade trees — paced by six new discipline gems. The game world has been rebuilt around them: isometric levels, reworked lighting, and per-enemy death effects. The first Legendary items sit above Epic, and the enemy runtime was rearchitected for performance.
Hero Disciplines
- Fifteen Disciplines, three per hero. Woodsworn get Bear Trap, Track, and Shadowstep; Spellblade get Blink, Spell Echo, and Elemental Exposure; Nightreaver get Death Mark, Vanish, and Shadow Dash; Bonebreaker get Ground Slam, Blood Rage, and Charge; Lightbearer get Divine Shield, Consecration, and Holy Charge.
- Build trees, not switches. Each Discipline is a root ability plus six passive nodes at five levels each, bought one point at a time — so two players running the same Discipline can build it differently.
- Paragon-gated slots. One equipped Discipline at Paragon 0–9, a second at 10–19, a third from Paragon 20.
Discipline Gems
- Six colours. Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, Emerald, Amethyst, and Diamond drop from any enemy at a base 1 in 750, improved by Magic Find, and pace how fast you buy into a tree.
Gameplay visual overhaul
- Isometric world. A new isometric projection with a more powerful tile-based generator that pulls from per-level data.
- Levels 1–5 rebuilt. New tiles and art, torches as light sources, and all doodads replaced with high-detail versions.
- Light Radius stat. Lighting now runs off a real Light Radius stat; flat darkness is replaced by nearby doodads that fade so they never hide the hero, and gear can roll Increased Light Radius.
- Paragon-aware hero textures that scale in detail with Paragon level and equipment quality.
- Death shaders. Regular enemies dissolve on an ash-wind shader; bosses burn away on a longer dissolve.
- Unified HUD. In-game panels are one shared panel that scales cleanly across every resolution, the ability bar fills in the order you learn abilities, and ability/Discipline changes show a before/after diff.
Items, performance, and fixes
- The first Legendary items — a new rarity tier above Epic in the loot pool and boss drop tables.
- Focus Potion. The old Ultimate Potion is now the Focus Potion: it instantly cuts 5 / 10 / 15 seconds from every equipped Discipline's cooldown.
- Offscreen and movement optimizations. Offscreen units skip animation and view work, and per-frame movement lookups are cached.
- Full localization of the Disciplines screen across English, Russian, and Simplified Chinese.
