A new peaceful activity has arrived in Royal Quest — fishing. It's a great way to take a break between battles, change your pace, explore different corners of Aura, and catch something valuable. Sometimes you'll hook a fish, sometimes a useful find, and sometimes — a true trophy.Game Designer's Comment"We envisioned fishing as a calm activity that lets players shift their rhythm. Royal Quest is full of adventures, battles, and loot hunting, so we wanted to add something where you could take a breather: find a spot by the water, cast your line, and spend some quiet, peaceful time.At the same time, fishing wasn't meant to be just a purposeless pause. That's why we tried to add a bit of excitement — your catch can be exchanged for goods with FishCoins, and there's always a chance to reel in something truly valuable."
Fishing becomes available at level 23.Start with the Young Angler's Course from Rub de Guizier in Triozerye — he'll help you get familiar with the new mechanic. To cast your fishing rod, you'll need:• A fishing rod
• Bait suitable for the current fishing ground
• A fishing spot by the waterFishing spots are marked on the map with a fishing icon, and in the world — with special signposts near bodies of water. If you see such a sign, it means you can fish nearby.Quick Start
Reach level 23.
Find Rub de Guizier in Triozerye.
Complete the Young Angler's Course.
Get a fishing rod and suitable bait.
Find a signpost by the water.
Use the fishing rod from your backpack or skill panel.
Wait for a bite.
When the fishing buff icon changes and an exclamation mark emoji appears above your character — quickly use the fishing rod again.
If you're on time — the catch is yours.
Trade your catch for FishCoins and return for new trophies.
You can only fish at special fishing spots by the water. They're easy to spot:• Marked on the map with a fishing icon
• A special signpost stands nearby in the world
• If you see such a sign by a body of water, you can cast your line hereFishing spots are located in various corners of Aura. Each fishing ground has its own species of fish, so it's worth traveling for new catches.
There are 6 fishing grounds in total:• Central Region
• Wolf Lands
• Scorching Desert
• Blighted Swamps
• Fallen Valley
• Obykan HighlandsIn each ground, you can catch common, rare, and legendary fish. There are 18 unique fish species in total.Game Designer's Comment"We drew inspiration from classic MMO fishing activities and other cozy mechanics where not just the result matters, but the process itself. We wanted fishing to feel like a small, leisurely journey between fishing grounds: today you're fishing in the peaceful Central Region, tomorrow you head to the swamps or desert, and then you return to your favorite fishing spot."
Fishing is a short attention-based minigame.
Find a fishing spot and stand next to the CARP signpost.
Use the fishing rod from your backpack or skill panel.
Wait for a bite.
When the fishing buff icon changes and an exclamation mark emoji appears above your character — quickly use the fishing rod again.
If you're on time — the catch is yours. If you rush or miss it — the catch will get away.
The key is not to press too early and not to miss the bite moment. If you react in time, the catch will automatically go into your character's pocket, and information about what you caught will appear in the game chat.Game Designer's Comment"It was important for us that fishing remains easy to pick up but doesn't turn into a completely passive activity. That's why there's a reaction moment in fishing: you need to wait for the bite and hook it in time. This approach preserves the calm pace of the activity while adding a bit of excitement. Every cast is an anticipation — will you react in time, or will the long-awaited trophy slip off the hook?"
The fishing rod is your primary fishing tool. You can't start fishing without it.Rods differ in their chances of obtaining different categories of catch and the risk of breakage. The better the rod, the higher the chance of a more valuable catch, but the more attention you should pay to its durability.Rods can be obtained during the introduction to the mechanic or purchased from NPC anglers. Before a long fishing session, it's better to take several rods with you: when used, a rod may break and disappear from your inventory.BaitBait is required for every fishing attempt. You won't be able to cast without it.Bait must match the current fishing ground. There's also universal bait that can be used in any ground.Priority of use is as follows:
If you have bait for the current ground — it is used.
If there is no such bait, but you have universal bait — universal bait is used.
If you have neither suitable nor universal bait — fishing won't start.
Bait can be:• Purchased from NPC anglers
• Caught during fishing
• Crafted via recipeBait is consumed automatically with each fishing attempt.
Groundbait is a useful item for those who want to fish faster. It is used before fishing starts and temporarily increases fishing speed. Groundbait is especially useful if you plan to stay by the water and make many casts in a row.Groundbait can be:• Caught during fishing
• Crafted via recipe
• Purchased from the fishing shop
• Obtained through in-game activities
The Fishing Oracle adds an element of luck and exploration to fishing. When used, it points to a random fishing spot where a chance for additional loot temporarily appears. This is a good reason to change location and head out for bonus bites. How the Oracle works:• Used with the right mouse button
• Applies an effect after use
• Selects a random fishing spot
• Displays information about the bonus spot in the game chat and on the effect icon
• Lasts for a limited timeThe same bonus spot can appear several times in a row — this is normal.
You can hook:• Common, rare, and legendary fish
• Cards
• Fishing Oracle
• Lunchbox with useful items
• Bait and other fishing consumables
• Useful consumable items
• Small trophies
• And other lootAll caught loot is automatically sent to your character's pocket. Information about what you caught is displayed in the game chat.
Caught fish can be traded to NPC anglers for FishCoins.FishCoins are the fishing currency that will come in handy at special shops. You can use them to get useful items for further fishing and other valuable rewards.FishCoins can be obtained:• By trading in caught fish
• By completing daily fishing quests
Fishing is also tied to daily quests. They help diversify your route and encourage you to fish in different fishing grounds rather than staying in one place all the time.By completing these quests, you turn in the required catch and receive FishCoins.
Fishing is not a race, but a separate, calm gameplay rhythm. Here you can:• Travel across different fishing grounds for new catches and rewards
• Complete daily quests
• Trade your catch for FishCoinsFishCoins are useful at fishing shops: you can get useful items for further fishing and other valuable rewards. And if you want to add some excitement, use a found Fishing Oracle: it will point to a bonus fishing spot where there's a chance for additional loot.
Game Designer's Comment
"Perhaps the hardest part was finding the balance. Fishing should be relaxing but not boring; useful but not mandatory; and it shouldn't break the game's economy. That's why we tried to create a clear cycle for the player: catch fish, trade them for FishCoins, buy useful items, and return to the water. At the same time, fishing remains an optional activity — you can return to it at your own pace."
Bring extra bait
Bait is consumed with every fishing attempt. If it runs out, fishing will stop.
Check the fishing ground
Different grounds require different bait. If you're unsure, bring universal bait.Watch for the bite moment
Don't press too early. Wait until the fishing buff icon changes and an exclamation mark emoji appears above your character.Use groundbait before a long fishing session
If you plan to make many casts, groundbait will help speed up the process.Don't fish near dangerous monsters
If your character is attacked, fishing can be interrupted. Before casting, make sure the area is safe.Try different fishing grounds
Each ground has unique loot. If you want to find new catches, don't limit yourself to one spot.
Grab your rod, check your bait, and look for a signpost by the water.Your next cast might bring you a legendary catch.
