5 Combat Tips for New Commanders

All eventsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Victory in Calame is not determined by raw strength alone. Positioning, resource management, and careful planning are often the difference between triumph and defeat.

Whether you're just beginning your journey or looking to refine your tactics, here are five essential combat tips to help you lead the Rebellion more effectively.

Protect Your Back

Positioning matters. Characters attacked from behind take increased damage. Use your frontline and terrain wisely to shield vulnerable allies and deny enemies access to your rear.

Save Action Points for the right moment

Characters gain 1 AP at the start of their turn and can store up to 3 AP. Stronger Skills require more AP, so sometimes it's better to use a basic attack or item and save AP for a decisive turn.

Watch out for “Friendly Fire”

Unlike Overdrives, Skills and basic attacks can affect both allies and enemies. Always check your targets carefully to avoid harming your own troops or helping the enemy.

Optimize Legend Points

Legend Points can be spent on Corrections to manipulate Legend Elements on the battlefield. Trigger explosive plants, drop crates onto enemies, ignite a brazier, or collapse a bridge.

Don't wait too long to use them, though, before it’s too late. Blocking a path and giving you time to regroup is more efficient than dealing damage and dying.

Plan before you move

At the start of the combat, inspect the battlefield, study enemy positions, identify Legend Elements, and plan your route. Good preparation often determines the outcome before the first attack is made.

Commanders who rush into battle react to events.

Commanders who study the battlefield shape them.

The fate of the Rebellion depends on your decisions. Plan carefully, protect your allies, and make every action count.

The Panthers simply called him “Healer.” A skilled Mindaran, he had been reduced to slavery, mutilated, deprived of sight, but never of knowledge. He knew plants, bones, words that soothed. He healed. And he endured. Healer followed the Panthers like a ghost. He obeyed, he healed, he spoke only to soothe. No one truly considered him a man. But he watc…Community30 Jul 2026Dounia, the Panthers’ Great CommanderDounia is the pillar of the Panthers’ troop. Massive and loud-mouthed, loyal to Princess Véra to the point of devotion, she never spoke of her own scars. But in her silence, there were years of fire and blood. The Panthers were no longer the united group they had once been. Darran and his column had brought new ideas, and new victories too. Dounia liked none of it. Her Princess, her sword, and…
