LIVORA Update: Smarter Days, Faster Lives

LIVORA · published

Smarter Days. Faster Lives.

This update is focused on making LIVORA faster, clearer and easier to play without simplifying the Life simulation underneath it.

As a Life develops, there can be a lot happening at once: work, money, relationships, appointments, messages, plans, consequences and unexpected events.

The complexity should come from the Life you're building — not from waiting, unnecessary navigation or trying to work out what the game needs you to do next.

This update improves that experience across LIVORA.

Smart Time Advance Has Been Reworked

Smart Time Advance now gives you much more control over how quickly you move through your Life.

Rather than only being useful during very specific quiet periods, you can choose to move forward through a period of time when you don't want to play every individual day.

LIVORA still checks what is happening during that period and takes important commitments and circumstances into account.

Smart Time Advance can be used up to twice per in-game month, giving you flexibility without turning it into a way of bypassing the Life simulation.

And advancing time does not simply change the date.

Your Life continues moving underneath it. Relevant income, bills, relationships, health, messages, consequences and other Life systems continue to be processed as time passes.

Today Is More Useful

The Today section has been improved to make the things that actually need your attention easier to find.

Important same-day commitments such as interviews, appointments, social plans and other actionable moments are given greater priority.

Where possible, you can get closer to the relevant interaction directly rather than searching through several different areas of the game.

Less searching. More playing.

A Clearer Calendar

The Calendar still gives you a detailed view of what is happening throughout your Life, but it now does a better job of separating information from action.

Things that still need your attention are easier to distinguish from entries that have already been resolved or are primarily there as part of your Life's history.

Paid bills, completed decisions and other passive information can still remain visible without competing as heavily with the things you actually need to deal with.

Better Life Journal Guidance

Life Journal recommendations have also been tightened up.

LIVORA now performs stronger checks before presenting guidance, particularly when the situation behind a recommendation may already have changed.

The aim is simple: if the Journal tells you something deserves your attention, it should be clear what it refers to and why it matters now.

Resolved, outdated or currently unactionable situations should be less likely to appear as though they are still active tasks.

Fewer Unnecessary Roadblocks

The systems that determine whether your day can end have received further work too.

There are still situations where an important interaction genuinely needs to be completed before LIVORA can safely move forward.

When that happens, however, the game also needs to give you a clear way to resolve it.

Unfinished Business and End Day behaviour have been strengthened so required actions remain accessible and players are less likely to reach a situation where they cannot progress.

Less important observations and recommendations should also be less likely to hold up your entire Life unnecessarily.

Career Improvements

Career opportunities have received additional reliability work, particularly around new Lives and the way Career information is prepared.

Valid opportunities should appear more consistently while continuing to respect your character's qualifications, circumstances, experience and the wider labour market.

This does not make Career less realistic.

LIVORA will not simply fill the screen with jobs your character should not reasonably be able to access. The improvement is about making sure legitimate opportunities are available when they should be.

Stronger Saving and Recovery

A significant amount of work has also gone into the systems responsible for preserving your Life.

Saving, local checkpoints, recovery data and restoration have been improved so LIVORA can handle increasingly complicated Lives more efficiently while continuing to protect the state of the simulation.

That includes work around:

  • local save checkpoints;

  • recovery and previous-good save states;

  • Steam save handling;

  • restoring existing Lives;

  • cloud synchronisation;

  • longer and more heavily developed Lives.

The goal is not simply to make saves smaller or faster.

It is to do that without losing the information that makes your Life yours.

Faster Gameplay

One of the largest areas of work in this update is underneath the game itself.

LIVORA now avoids more unnecessary repeated work during normal gameplay.

More suitable static and presentation information can be kept efficiently on the local side of the game rather than repeatedly rebuilding or requesting the same information.

This includes areas such as scenarios, assets, Career and Education information, and parts of the wider world and activity systems.

The parts that actually determine your Life remain authoritative.

Your money, eligibility, consequences, relationships, Career state, health, affordability, availability and other changing systems are still based on the real state of your Life.

So the simulation remains deep — LIVORA is simply doing less unnecessary work to deliver it.

Better Performance in Longer Lives

Performance work has deliberately focused on more than just the opening days of a new Life.

As the years pass, LIVORA has significantly more information to manage:

careers develop, relationships build history, finances change, families evolve, consequences accumulate and your personal timeline becomes increasingly detailed.

Recent work has improved how that larger state is stored, restored and processed so a mature Life does not automatically become a slow Life.

That includes improvements to save growth, checkpoints, repeated data, Life loading and the amount of information LIVORA needs to process during everyday play.

Faster Moment Preparation

The process behind preparing your next Moment has also received additional performance work.

This includes situations where LIVORA needs to select or prepare a fallback Moment.

The behaviour and intelligence behind those systems remains intact, but the path used to get you to the next playable decision has been tightened to reduce unnecessary waiting.

Moving through a normal day should feel more responsive as a result.

Remember the Days That Matter

The end-of-day memory experience has also been improved.

Not every ordinary day needs to interrupt the flow of play.

The system gives greater control over how memories are treated so genuinely meaningful days can stand out without making every routine day feel like a ceremony.

Your Life history still matters.

Creating it should feel natural.

More Control Without Less Depth

A lot of this update comes back to one principle:

LIVORA should be complex because Life is complex — not because playing it is difficult.

Smart Time Advance gives you more control over pacing.

Today makes important commitments easier to reach.

Calendar is clearer about what still matters.

Life Journal guidance is more relevant.

Unfinished Business is safer to resolve.

Career opportunities are more reliable.

Saving and restoration are stronger.

And substantial performance work underneath LIVORA means the game can do less unnecessary work while preserving the interconnected simulation that makes every Life different.

There is still plenty more to improve, but this is an important step towards making LIVORA feel faster, clearer and more dependable from the beginning of a Life through to its later years.

Thank you for playing LIVORA and for continuing to share feedback.

It continues to play an important part in shaping the game.
