Update v59 — Raids, Clan Skirmishes & Roadside Encounters
This update expands what you can do across the world: raid town holdings, defend or repair them, take work from clans, and meet travelers with more to offer than a fight.
Raids and Town Defenses
- Raid farms, fisheries, and other town holdings for supplies and loot.
- Damaged holdings hurt their town’s economy until repaired.
- Towns dispatch defenders against raiders, with stronger responses from larger settlements and military buildings.
- Towns send workers to repair damaged holdings. You can also help with repairs yourself.
- Added contracts to raid, defend, and repair holdings.
- Raiding now creates temporary hostility, allowing defenders to intervene immediately.
- Fixed interrupted raids not resuming correctly after battle.
Clan Relations
- Added clan contracts, with more demanding work requiring better reputation.
- Clan offers show their allegiance and reputation requirements.
- Added rival-patrol contracts and opportunities to choose sides in clan skirmishes.
- Neighboring clans can provoke one another, while prolonged conflict gradually cools.
- The ledger now shows relations between clans.
- Rebalanced aggression penalties so a single confrontation does not immediately make an entire clan your sworn enemy.
- Trading reputation now comes from accumulated spending rather than repeated small transactions.
Encounters and Writing
- Expanded conversations with peasants, caravans, ronin, and people working at town holdings.
- Encounters can offer local news, small trades, requests for supplies, unexpected escorts, or trouble.
- Rumors are not always reliable.
- Extensively revised dialogue, contracts, events, origin introductions, and ambitions, with updated translations across all supported languages.
Combat and Balance
- Reworked pillagers around aggressive fighters with mixed equipment, less reliable armor, and vulnerable morale.
- Basic one-handed spear thrusts now have a hit-chance bonus.
- Fixed Advancing Thrust’s damage bonuses not applying.
- Staff Prod is more accurate and can reach over intervening units; Whack requires an opening.
- Removed the basic accuracy bonus from great-sword Slash.
- Double Slice now attempts both swings even if the first misses. Both deal 10% less damage, and the second has reduced accuracy.
- Clarified the Single Grip damage-penalty tooltip.
World Map and Quality of Life
- Restored town banners and added clearer clan-ownership emblems.
- Distinct banners better separate clan troops from hostile groups.
- Improved friendly and hostile colors on towns and party labels.
- Adjusted settlement spacing and nearby feature placement.
- Added optional WASD world-map movement.
- Added a separate starting-money option: +0g, +500g, +1000g, or +2000g.
- Fixed caravan decorations remaining visible when the party was hidden.
- Fixed deserters lingering at towns and contract-board offers becoming out of sync.
