Update v56
This is Ashigaru Tactics' largest update yet, expanding the living sandbox with new forces, travelers, camps, events, a rebuilt world map and interface, ten additional languages, extensive balance changes, and many fixes.
New world and sandbox content
- Added French, Italian, German, Spanish, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese support.
- Added macaques, hihi, and the rare onikuma beast.
- Added pillager parties with spearmen, bowmen, deserters, chiefs, and warlords, plus a broad clan roster of militia, ashigaru, clan warriors, samurai, nobles, kenshi, sword-school masters, and spear masters.
- Added clan local patrols, road patrols, reinforcements, war parties, noble retinues, and special detachments, alongside expanded mercenary companies and independent ronin bands.
- Added pilgrims, hunters, deserters, clan convoys, and other road traffic, and increased ordinary peasant and caravan traffic.
- Added bandit campsites, stockades, occupied ruins, and mountain hideouts. Camps now maintain garrisons, recover strength, and launch patrols.
- Clan patrol activity now responds to town wealth and nearby conflict. Towns can offer contracts for real nearby threats, and mercenary companies can take contracts to clear hostile camps.
- Humanoid forces may retreat from world-map battles instead of always fighting to destruction.
- Added more than 20 world and travel happenings, including abandoned carts, charred homesteads, distant smoke, shrine bells, ronin duels, teahouses, refugees, clan checkpoints, soldier marches, white deer, storms, floods, crop blight, tea caravans, recruit training, and souhei warnings.
- Added Blessed and Exhausted effects, wooden carving valuables and event rewards, and improved mod metadata, version checking, load validation, and remembered mod selections.
World map and interface overhaul
- Completely redesigned the world map with hex terrain, new coastlines, roads, forests, decorations, town and site markers, and labels.
- Rebuilt the interface around a washi paper and ink presentation, including the top bar, combat interface, perk screen, item slots, scrollbars, tooltips, buttons, and windows.
- Rebuilt background, trait, perk-tree, skill, status-effect, injury, and equipment-slot icons, and added a new title logo and world-map location artwork.
- Increased world-map view range. The fog boundary now reflects the reduced spotting range inside forests.
- Improved road generation, movement routing, path presentation, world-map rebuild speed, and transition performance.
Balance and improvements
- Rebalanced bandit and pillager populations for more varied group sizes and compositions, and broadened high-tier encounter compositions.
- Reduced mountain bandit armor, increased mountain and general bandit weapon variety, and slowed late-game oni population growth.
- Rebalanced famed item availability and rewards. Famed store items appear less often but remain available longer.
- Increased mercenary experience rewards and rebalanced the damage, armor penetration, stamina use, and prices of numerous weapons.
- Improved interface focus, highlighting, scrolling, and interaction behavior.
Fixes
- Fixed percentage rolls so a 0% chance can never succeed.
- Fixed world-map movement, failed paths, camp visibility, location rebuilding, rendering, sorting, labels, decorations, and fog issues.
- Fixed accessories not appearing correctly, bonus attribute displays, and several persistent injury and expiration issues.
- Fixed stale interface highlights and focus, interface cleanup, scrollbar geometry, arrow presentation, and contract panels appearing behind happenings.
- Fixed localization importing and empty localization rows.
- Fixed encounter tier selection producing repetitive parties and full and demo builds receiving conflicting SKU configuration.
