Innovations & Studio Upgrades Fixes

Innovations tab routing

  • Fixed: The “Innovations” link on project screens was opening Hardware R&D (console tech tree) instead of mechanic research.

  • Now: Innovations opens the correct screen where you unlock gameplay mechanics for your games. Hardware R&D stays under Console R&D.

Studio Upgrades counter (17/18)

  • Fixed: Studio Upgrades showed 17/18 even though only 17 upgrades exist.

  • Cause: A hidden deprecated upgrade was still counted in the total.

  • Now: The counter shows 17/17 when the tree is complete, matching Dashboard and Company Profile.

Stuck “Upgrades idle” notification

  • Fixed: The “No company upgrade in progress” alert could stay forever after you’d unlocked everything.

  • Now: That alert only appears when upgrades are still available and you’re not researching anything. It clears when the tree is maxed.

Nav & cross-links

  • Renamed the Tech Tree tab to Innovations for clarity.

  • Updated links that pointed at the wrong screen (e.g. hardware/innovation cross-links now go to the right places).

Real Estate Portfolio Updates

Overview

Real estate has been reworked so well-maintained properties can appreciate in value while still earning rent, with slower deterioration, true multi-unit buildings, and more late-game depth.

Balance & investment feel

What changed

  • Condition decay is much slower, especially on rented properties

  • Deferring maintenance costs; maintenance events are less frequent

  • Properties can gain market value over time based on city desirability and regional economy

  • Condition affects value less harshly

  • Weekly value noise removed — equity moves should feel intentional, not random

Where to see it

  1. Real Estate → Catalog → buy any property

  2. List → Manage on a property

  3. Check Market value, Market appreciation, Cap rate (net), Condition decay

  4. Advance several weeks with the property Rented and funded → value should trend up on maintained units

Portfolio dashboard improvements

What changed

  • Dashboard shows avg cap rate, equity vs invested, and units occupied (for multi-unit holdings)

  • Occupancy bar includes Partially occupied for multi-unit buildings

Click path

  • Real Estate → top dashboard cards (Weekly net P&L, Portfolio value, Occupancy)

Multi-unit buildings

What changed

  • New property type: Multi-Unit (multi_family)

  • Duplexes, triplexes, and 6–8 unit blocks with per-unit tenants

  • Partial occupancy — some units rented, some vacant

  • Plateau Triplex (Montreal) is now a real 3-unit building

  • 15 new listings across cities (Austin, Manchester, Brooklyn, Chicago, Berlin, London, etc.)

Click path

  1. Real Estate → Catalog

  2. Type → Multi-Unit

  3. Buy e.g. Plateau Triplex or Lincoln Park Six-Flat

  4. List → Manage → Unit breakdown (per-unit rent + vacant/rented)

  5. Advance weeks → status may show Partially occupied; dashboard shows X/Y units occupied

Maintenance decisions

What changed

  • Three choices when maintenance fires:

    • Pay — fix now

    • Preventive — pay 1.5×; slows condition decay for 12 weeks

    • Defer — save cash; −5 condition

  • Ignored events still auto-defer after 3 weeks

Click path

  • Real Estate (banner at top) or Decisions inbox when maintenance appears

  • Or: Real Estate → Manage property → watch Recent events

Tier-gated catalog

What changed

  • Listings unlock by passion project tier:

    • Tier 1 (Small Portfolio): apartments, houses, duplexes

    • Tier 2 (Estates): brownstones, mansions, triplexes

    • Tier 3 (Property Empire): luxury estates, large apartment blocks

  • Locked listings show Requires tier X in Catalog

Click path

  1. Mogul Profile → Passion Projects → upgrade Real Estate tier

  2. Real Estate → Catalog → try a luxury estate or 8-unit block at lower tiers (should be locked)

Mortgages (personal property)

What changed

  • Tier 2+ can buy with 25% down; remainder financed from personal cash weekly

  • Property profile shows Mortgage / wk and remaining Balance

Click path

  1. Mogul Profile → upgrade to Estates (Tier 2)

  2. Real Estate → Catalog → property you can’t afford outright

  3. Finance ($X down)

  4. List → Manage → mortgage line items

  5. Advance weeks → personal cash deducted each week until paid off

Regional market events

What changed

  • Occasional regional boom / softening affects appreciation in that country for 12 weeks

  • Headlines appear in the news feed

Click path

  1. Own properties in multiple regions

  2. Advance many weeks

  3. News → look for Regional property boom / Regional market softening in [city]

  4. Real Estate → Manage affected properties → watch Market appreciation over following weeks

Cross-system

What changed

  • Gym Chain rent relief (−10%) now applies if you own a rented or partially occupied property in that city

  • Founder Life / Mogul Profile personal income includes multi-unit partial rent correctly

Click path

  • Gym Chain → club in a city where you own an occupied multi-unit → check finance/rent relief note
