Hello, survivors!

Thank you for your continued feedback and suggestions. This update adds a side quest for the College Student to recover a second Drone, allows rotten meat to be composted, and improves survivor interactions and feedback. It also fixes a batch of gameplay and interaction issues. Details are as follows:

Version: 1.0.16363

Highlights

  • New content: The College Student can now find a second Drone, and rotten meat can be composted.

  • Top player concerns: Explanations for Planning Points and ability upgrades have been added to the game, rat cages now notify you when they run out of Food, and Disinfectant Spray can be used from any Container.

[Survival & Interaction]

  • College Student's Second Drone: A new side quest has been added to the College Student's story: in the mid-game, you can go to the Abandoned School to retrieve an old teaching Drone. After repairing it, you'll have two Drones available at Home. Save files that have already visited the School can also find it when entering the School again.

  • Rotten Meat Can Be Composted: Rotten meat strips, rotten meat chunks, and rotten meat slabs can now be placed in compost bins and will transform into basic fertilizer after some time. They finally have a second use.

  • Survivor Interaction Optimization:

    • After you respond to a request for help or send supplies for free, each survivor will reply with their own letter. If you send enough food, they will also have the Drone bring back a return gift, which must be collected before that Drone can be sent out again;

    • Survivors send help requests less often: once their shelves have been traded empty, they will only write for help once; survivors who have joined the trading network now only write when their food supplies are about to run out. The wording of some survivor letters has also been polished.

  • Rat Cage notification optimization: When rat cages stop generating power due to Food depletion, there will be notifications, and the power panel will also display the reason why the rat cage stopped running. After rats die, corpses that don't fit in the backpack will drop beside the cage instead of disappearing into thin air.

  • Defense Tag Optimization: The "Defense" tag for storage Furniture can now also be used to quickly store low-quality molotov cocktails and high-quality molotov cocktails.

  • Planning Points Credit Optimization: Planning Points rewards marked in event options will now be credited to your balance immediately, rather than waiting until settlement; Planning Points left by departed individuals will also be listed separately on the settlement page.

  • Planning Points Settlement Fix: Fixed an issue where Planning Points rewards for "Record-Breaking Days" would be undercounted during settlement after entering/exiting exploration instances or exiting and re-entering the game.

  • Quest Unlock Fix: Fixed an issue where, after saving at certain moments during some quests, loading the save could be missing the recipes or areas the quest should have unlocked; affected save files will automatically restore them when loaded.

  • Multiple Drone Fix: Fixed an issue where having multiple Drones at Home would cause trading, donation, and delivery panels to access another Drone's cargo hold.

  • Drone Cargo Hold Display Fix: When items from a previous trip are still left in the cargo hold, the trading panel will now show them, so the cargo hold no longer looks empty while saying there is not enough space.

  • Delivery Button Optimization: When a Drone is busy, the "Deliver Supplies" button will now be grayed out and display the reason, instead of disappearing entirely or being unresponsive when clicked.

  • Event Notification Fix: Fixed an issue where pending event exclamation marks could disappear or appear in the wrong location when assembling/disassembling Furniture or having multiple identical Furniture pieces at Home.

  • Disinfectant Spray Fix: Fixed an issue where disinfectant spray stored in storage Furniture such as Cardboard Boxes, shelves, and Metal Cabinets would cause the disinfection button to show no spray available and be unusable; now all spray in accessible Containers at Home will be counted.

  • Proficiency Scoring Fix: Fixed an issue where "Home/Defense/Exploration Proficiency" in the survival records would almost always show +0 levels in some rebirth long games;

  • Rescue Feeding Fix: When feeding the Veteran, donating to the Warehouse Manager, or sending leftover food to survivors for free, Satiety will now be correctly calculated based on the remaining portions.

[Display and Interaction]

  • Solar Panel Display Optimization: Solar panel power generation display now matches actual calculations. The hover panel includes explanations for power generation calculations and specifies reasons when power generation is 0. Furniture details now include sunny day power generation information.

  • Planning Points Description: Added "?" help icons next to Planning Points balance in the Survival Log "Abilities" tab, pre-disaster planning bottom bar, rebirth point allocation page, and death rebirth options page. Hovering reveals Planning Points usage and sources; the Planning Points statistics page also includes additional descriptions for each row. The Planning Points total on the settlement page now shows your current balance, consistent with the point allocation page, and new rows for "Carried Over", "Event Rewards", and "Rewind Cost" have been added for easier checking.

  • Ability Upgrade Tips: When opening the "Abilities" details in-game, a prompt at the bottom of the popup will show how to learn abilities.

  • Furniture Installation Time: The "Installation Time" in Furniture details now separately displays the actual installation duration for pre-disaster and post-disaster periods.

  • Starting Tips Optimization: At the start of the game, floating text for batch-unlocked recipes will now be merged and appear in sequence with staggered timing, no longer clustering together.

  • Stability Optimization: Fixed crashes that occurred after entering the game in certain graphics card environments.

  • Cell Phone Conversation Optimization: Cell Phone conversations are now displayed in daily segments, and historical messages in community groups from before the disaster will also show the correct dates and order.

  • Translation Optimization: Completed missing translations for some interface prompts.

[Scenes & Presentation]

  • Farmers Market Navigation Optimization: Fixed the issue where characters would get stuck and unable to move in certain positions during pre-disaster shopping rushes at the farmers market.

  • Ending Freeze Frame Optimization: Optimized the freeze-frame composition for the second floor of the Warehouse Manager's Home in the "Safe House Snapshot" ending.

  • Icon Optimization: Fixed the antidote icon and the issue where the "Proper Refrigeration" talent mistakenly used a Sofa icon.

  • Icon Text Corrections: Fixed English spelling errors on item icons such as rice bags and trophies, as well as the mirrored text issue on magazine covers.

  • Partial audio optimization: Optimized audio effects for certain actions.

[Things Everyone Cares About]

  • Requests for new content and gameplay: We are focusing our efforts on the continuous development of the major update content scheduled for early October, which will provide more fresh gameplay and experiences for everyone. For details, please check the update roadmap.

  • Resource organization, transportation, and storage: Many players have reported that resource management in the mid-to-late game is too cumbersome, with organizing and storing being time-consuming, and having to search through cabinets for materials before crafting or cooking. We have taken notice of this and have begun optimization work. We expect to implement comprehensive improvements in the major October update, integrating new systems for an overall iteration.

  • Endless mode: Regarding the zombie horde rhythm, trading post collapse, and late-game objectives in endless mode, we have received many suggestions. We plan to revamp endless mode in the major October update, incorporating camp trading and maintenance, zombie wave variations, exclusive planning, and more, hoping to bring you a more strategically deep and enriched mid-to-late game experience.

  • Recipe search for cooking: Recipe search and ingredient filtering features are already in development and are planned to be added in future updates.

  • Multiplayer mode: Multiplayer mode is one of the most anticipated features and the issue we receive the most feedback about. We have always been aware of everyone's expectations for multiplayer gameplay. Since adding multiplayer involves significant adjustments to the core gameplay mechanics, we are currently carefully evaluating specific implementation methods and feasibility. If we have a viable solution in the future, we will inform everyone immediately.

Thank you for your support and feedback! If you encounter any bugs or have suggestions during gameplay, please feel free to let us know through the feedback form, and we will address them as soon as possible.

In addition to continuously polishing existing content, we are also working in parallel on designing and developing future free update content. For specific plans, please refer to the update roadmap.

Good luck to all survivors—stock up on supplies and survive to the end!

— Midnight Workshop
