v2.0.3 — TRAFFIC RIVALS IS NOW FREE TO PLAY

The game is free from today. If you bought it before that, you are a Founder and you are getting paid for it. And the steering fix that should have been in v2.0.2 is finally here — it turned out the dead zone was never in your wheel.

FOUNDER BADGE + 20 CRATES

  • Everyone who owned Traffic Rivals before it went free gets a Founder Badge and 20 crates. The badge is a permanent Steam inventory item — not tradable, not marketable. It says when you showed up, and that is not something anyone should be able to buy later.

  • The crates are the normal kind — parts, wheels, spoilers, rolled server-side, tradable and marketable like any other.

  • Nothing to claim. Open the game and go to the main menu; the badge and crates land in your Steam inventory. If your crate counter looks unchanged, give it a moment and reopen the menu.

We are granting these in batches rather than all at once, so if you owned the game and nothing has arrived yet, it is still coming. If a couple of days pass with nothing, send a report from the Support page — it names your account so we can find you.

STEERING — THE DEAD ZONE WAS OURS, NOT YOURS

If you have a wheel and small inputs did nothing at all, this was why. And it was not the deadzone setting, no matter how far you turned it down.

  • Fixed: roughly the first 45 degrees in each direction did nothing. The car controller reduces steering as you go faster — sensible for a keyboard, where every press is full lock and has to be tamed. Measured on our own cars: at 100 km/h only 20% of your input survived, at 150 km/h 16%. A wheel is the opposite problem — you already meter the angle with your hands — so 45 degrees of real rotation came out as about one degree of front wheel angle. The car genuinely did not turn.

  • While a wheel is driving, steering now keeps 83% of your input at 150 km/h instead of 16%. Same 45 degrees now gives you about five and a half degrees of wheel angle: enough to change lanes, and full lock is still 270 degrees of real rotation away, so nothing got twitchy.

  • Fixed: "I can't turn left." Two driving aids were fighting you. Automatic counter-steering adds steering based on wheel slip, weighted so that it applies at nearly full strength exactly when your input is small — which is all the time on a wheel. The steering limiter clamps one side of the range while you are sliding. Both are keyboard and pad aids; both are now off while a wheel is driving.

  • Keyboard and controller are completely untouched. The aids are handed back the moment the wheel stops driving, with the original values.

⚠ IF YOU CRANKED SETTINGS UP TO COMPENSATE: set Curve back to 1.0. People were raising it to fight the dead zone; that reason is gone and leaving it high now makes the wheel oversensitive. Leave the deadzone at its default too.

GEARBOX

  • Fixed: races started in whatever gear the last one ended in. Finish in fourth and the next countdown handed you fourth — off the line, at idle revs, in a tall gear. Automatic boxes hid it by re-picking a gear a moment later; manual ones did not. Every race and every round now starts in first.

INBOX

  • We can send you messages now. Rewards and announcements arrive in the Inbox tab with a REWARD subject, and the unread counter picks them up like a support reply.

  • Fixed: a message with no report behind it rendered a dangling empty "the report you sent" block — it looked like something had failed to load.

ALSO

  • Single play crate payouts are live on the server now. They were announced in v2.0.2, but the server side went out after that note — so if you chained near misses in single play before today and got nothing, that is why. Close passes pay their CR at the end of a solo run from here on.

KNOWN — STILL ON THE BENCH

  • Some visual settings still need a restart to take effect. Reported and reproduced; not fixed yet.

  • Drift scoring still pays nothing. It lost its payout during the anti-cheat rework and has not been given a new one. We would rather settle what a drift is worth than hand out a number we will have to take back.

  • Force feedback strength works and is adjustable, but the fine feel tuning continues. Tell us your wheel model and what feels wrong.
