v2.0.1 — WHEELS, FOR REAL THIS TIME

Reborn shipped with wheel support. This patch makes it survive contact with actual wheels. Within days of v2.0 we started getting detailed reports through the in-game Support page — one G923 owner in particular sent us exactly what was wrong, in order, with their hardware attached. Almost everything below exists because of reports like that. Keep them coming: it works.

STEERING WHEELS — REBUILT CALIBRATION

  • Fixed: the gas pedal "stopped working" after a few seconds. Holding the pedal perfectly steady looked like inactivity to the input system, and after less than a second it handed control back to the keyboard — throttle zero, car dies, works again when you pump the pedal. Holding an input now counts as using it. This was the big one.

  • Fixed: the wheel sat at full lock on some hardware. The game assumed every wheel's centre sits at the middle of its raw range. Plenty don't. Calibration now measures your wheel's actual centre and travel instead of assuming it.

  • Detection no longer cuts off early. When the settings page asks you to turn the wheel or press a pedal fully, it now keeps recording for a few seconds and captures the real range — before, it stopped the instant it recognised the axis and never measured your travel at all.

  • Engine stalling is gone. The clutch-stall simulation read miscalibrated clutch axes as "clutch dumped below idle" and killed the engine over and over — it looked exactly like broken pedals. Removed. The ignition stays: clutch + throttle (or your mapped start button) fires the engine back up.

  • Fixed: a plugged-in H-pattern shifter locked KEYBOARD players in neutral. If you fell back to keyboard with a shifter connected, the gearbox was pinned to neutral every frame and the car would not move. The shifter now only owns the gearbox while you are actually driving with the wheel or holding a gate.

  • Fixed: the Reset button in wheel settings could not be clicked.

  • Fixed: toggling Invert on a calibrated pedal made it go dead.

  • Default rotation is now 540° (was 1:1 with your hardware — two and a half turns lock-to-lock in an arcade racer). The full 180–1080° range is still yours to pick in wheel settings.

⚠ IF YOUR WHEEL WAS ACTING UP: open Settings → Controls → Wheel and re-detect each axis once. The new range measurement only happens during detection. Working setups are untouched — this only improves the broken ones.

AUDIO — THE SLIDERS TELL THE TRUTH NOW

  • Fixed: engine noise ignored your volume settings. Cars run two sound systems, and on 10 of 12 cars the second one was routed past the mixer entirely — straight to your speakers. Muting everything and still hearing an engine tick over in the menu? That was this. Every source now goes through the Vehicle volume slider.

  • The game goes silent when you alt-tab. It keeps running in the background (your race stays connected) — it just stops making noise about it.

Because the second sound system now actually obeys the Vehicle slider, cars may sound quieter than you're used to at the same slider position. That's the slider finally doing its whole job — turn it up to taste.

ALSO FIXED

  • Your opponent's licence plate no longer wears YOUR name. Every plate in the race — including the bot's — showed the local player's name. Plates now carry their owner's name; bots carry theirs.

  • Camera sensitivity was stuck at minimum for new players — and quietly saved that way. Fixed, and existing saves stuck at the broken floor are lifted to the proper default once.

  • FSR upscaling could not be enabled on AMD and Intel GPUs — the toggle was silently dead on exactly the cards that need it. If your framerate was mysteriously low on an AMD card, try Settings → Visuals → FSR now.

  • "Manuel" is now spelled "Manual" in English — and it turned out that transmission label had never been translated in 9 other languages either. Now it is.

KNOWN — STILL ON THE BENCH

  • Force feedback strength is adjustable and running, but the fine feel tuning continues as reports come in. Tell us your wheel model and what feels off.

  • If the game runs at a suspiciously low framerate on hardware that should eat it alive, send a report from the Support page — it attaches your log, which is what we need to find it.
