A new rhythm for updates: beta on Wednesdays, live on Thursdays

Hello everyone!

More than two weeks after launch, it's time for a bit of structure. But first, a quick look at where we stand.

A) What we've done so far

Since release, we've shipped three patches:

  • 1.0.1 and 1.0.2: the urgent stuff. Technical fixes, crashes, translation errors, the things that needed to be gone as fast as possible.

  • 1.0.3: our first real "listening" patch. Range indicators for Unda, Tolo and Nube, early game balancing on every skill, a rebalanced quest, two new tips, and the infinite energy fix.

I think that every one of those changes came from something one of you told us. That's not going to change !!

B) Now, the new rhythm

Those first weeks were, let's be honest, improvised. We worked whenever feedback came in, which made it hard to plan anything, hard to know when to start and when to stop, and hard to give each report the attention it deserves. So we're settling into a fixed schedule:

  • Wednesday afternoon/evening: the patch goes live on the beta branch

  • Wednesday to Thursday: open testing phase, and you're very welcome to take part

  • Thursday 18:00 CEST: if nothing worrying comes up, the patch goes live for everyone

To be clear: this happens on the weeks where there is an update. No update, no Thursday release. We'd rather give you one solid patch than three rushed ones.

C) WE NEED YOU !!

Joining the beta branch is easy: right click the game in your Steam library, go to Properties, then Betas, and select the beta branch from the dropdown. Steam downloads it automatically. You can switch back to the main version the same way at any time.

If you spot something, our Discord is the best place to talk about it (it's the fastest way to reach us and to discuss a fix), but the Steam discussions work perfectly fine too, just like they have until now.

D) Why do this?

Because it gives everyone something. It lets us collect several reports before acting, actually analyse the problem instead of patching the symptom, and ship something we've had time to test. And on our side, it lets us organise properly between polishing the game, working on the mobile port, and laying the groundwork for our future projects.

We'll keep this rhythm as long as there are things to fix and improve.

E) One apology

The gap between 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 will be longer than what you've seen so far. That's the trade off, and we're sorry for the wait. The upside is that 1.0.4 will also be a bigger update.

F) A Little Tease

Without promising exact contents or dates, here are the themes we're working on (for, I hope, Thursday !):

  • Starting over: better balancing and much clearer information around starting a new run and hunting the secret achievement.

  • Quality of life

  • Bug fixes

=> As always

Thank you for being here, for playing, for reporting, and for taking the time to explain what didn't work. This game is getting better because of you, and that's not a figure of speech at this point.

See you Wednesday on the beta branch.

The Mangus team
