Hello everyone!

First patch under the new rhythm: beta on Wednesday, live on Thursday at 18:00 CEST. Thanks to everyone who tested the beta branch yesterday. It's also our biggest update so far.

A) What's in the patch

Upgrade tree

  • Tooltips now stay in front of everything else, instead of hiding behind the action buttons

  • Tooltips no longer run off the screen. They place themselves on whichever side has room, without covering the upgrade they describe

  • Tooltips no longer block your cursor. No more dead zones, no more tooltip stuck on screen

  • The tree can be zoomed out much further, enough to take in a whole tree at a glance

  • Zoom steps are now even at every scale, instead of tiny when zoomed in and brutal when zoomed out

  • With a mouse, clicking an already-selected upgrade deselects it

  • Keyboard and D-pad navigation resumes where you left off instead of jumping to the leftmost node

Starting over

  • New saves can start with a resource multiplier based on how many of your other slots you've completed: 1 completed → x2, 2 → x4, 3 → x8. Applies to every resource, XP included

  • The bonus is offered, never forced. You're asked at save creation and can decline it

  • Each save slot now displays its own bonus badge in the menu

  • Gnamsu spawn far more often during a run where the Gnamsu quest is active and no elemental tree has been unlocked => Makes the secret achievement much less tedious !!!

  • New achievement: Quadruple Crown, complete the game on all four save slots (Don't worry, your play through 3 and 4 are gonna be REALLY fast with the new bonuses ! Tell us your best time in x8 resources, we're interested !)

Options

  • New setting for skill shortcut prompts: Never, Start of day (default), or Always

Elemental choice

  • A warning now appears when unlocking your first element, making clear it permanently locks the secret skill for that run

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that could freeze the character when two teleport fruits were consumed at the same time

  • Fixed a bug that could make Soul Rocks in large biomes disappear when approaching them from certain directions. The biome compass and its counter are reliable again

  • Fixed a crash that could happen when loading a much more advanced save right after playing an earlier one

  • Fixed the elemental choice popup appearing behind the quest log at night

B) A few words about all that

The tooltips are the change we're proudest of. It doesn't look like much in a list, but if you play with a mouse it's night and day. Browsing the tree used to mean fighting the interface: tooltips hidden behind buttons, cut off at the screen edge, or sitting there blocking whatever you wanted to hover next. That's gone. If there's one thing in this patch we'd like you to notice, it's this one.

On the resource multiplier, and what it means if you've already finished. Many of you asked for a better reason to replay. Here's how we landed: the bonus is per slot and locked in when a save is created, so it won't apply retroactively to a run already in progress. It's counted from your other slots, which means deleting a completed save lowers what future saves are offered. That's intentional.

One important note for those who already reached the end before this patch: your old runs aren't marked as completed yet, because the game had no reason to track it until now. You don't have to replay anything from scratch. Just load the save, go grab the final precious stone one more time, and the slot counts. Same thing for the Quadruple Crown achievement.

And if it's your first playthrough, or you simply want the normal experience, decline the bonus. Nothing changes and nothing is lost.

On the elemental warning. Several of you told us it felt unfair to discover at the end of a run that picking an element had closed a door behind you. That's a fair criticism, so the warning is there now. To be clear about what's behind that door: the secret skill is entirely optional and built around a much harder challenge. We genuinely recommend against going for it on a first playthrough.

One thing we're still chasing.

A player reported that on an ultra-wide display, some upgrades outside the centre of the screen can't be clicked in the night menu. We haven't managed to reproduce it, even at the same resolution, which means the trigger is somewhere else. If this happens to you, please come talk to us on Discord or in the Steam discussions. Knowing your display mode, your in-game resolution, your Windows scaling setting and whether you run multiple monitors would help us a lot.

What's next.

Control rebinding is on the table. It's a big piece of work with a lot of decisions attached to it, so we're not putting a version number on it yet. We'll talk about it again when we know more.

Work on the mobile port continues in parallel, still with no date. Polishing this version stays the priority.

As always.

Almost everything in this patch came from something one of you said, in a Steam discussion, on Discord, or in a Reddit thread. The tooltip work, the deeper zoom, the elemental warning, the replay bonus: none of it was on our list a month ago.

Thank you for that. Keep it coming.
