DREGS Update: Friendship, Failure, and Hyperion

Happy International Friendship Day! To celebrate the bonds that hold a crew together we’re dropping our first major update. In DREGS friendship means blame, betrayals, and spectacular crew fails.

Since launch, you’ve sent us a mountain of feedback, bug reports, clips, and suspiciously conflicting stories about what happened to your crewmates. We’ve been working through all of it.

This update introduces Hyperion, a new map designed for veteran crews. We’ve also expanded the post-game experience, improved voice chat and online stability, shortened loading times, and fixed problems across the existing maps.

Here’s what’s changed:

New Content

New Map: Hyperion

Designed as a challenging map for your crew, Hyperion joins the map rotation. It is only available on DANGER 3+ and requires substantial game knowledge and expertise to make quota.

Lasers + Hover Drones, what could go wrong…

New Helmet: Suspicious Monkey

It’s all sus.

Thank you to everyone who has played DREGS, shared feedback, streamed the game, or convinced their friends to board a clearly unsafe spacecraft.

This is the first of our regular updates. Keep sending us your feedback, and keep showing us all the inventive new ways your crews manage to fail.

Community3 Sep 2026Pivoting DREGS: A New Mission StructureChanging the Shape of a DREGS Mission Let’s start with why we’re making a change. Recently, we interviewed players who we believed would enjoy DREGS. People who had seen the game, understood what it was, and still decided not to play it. We wanted to understand what was holding them back. The most consistent answer was also the most useful: DREGS looked fun, but its overall structure felt too s…Community28 Jul 2026The Map Is a Puzzle: How Metroidvania Inspired DREGSDREGS is a co-op horror game, not a traditional metroidvania, metroidvania design had a major influence on how we built levels. Particularly the idea that exploring a map should be about more than moving from one room to the next. We wanted every map in DREGS to be something players gradually learn, unlock, and eventually master. What Is a Metroidvania? The term “metroidvania” comes from Metroi…Community23 Jul 2026Thank You for an Incredible Launch WeekendTo everyone who joined us for DREGS’ launch weekend: thank you. Watching you venture into the darkness, recover questionable salvage, and find increasingly creative ways to get your entire crew killed has been incredible. We’ve been following your streams, reading your reviews, and working through the feedback you’ve shared with us. Your enthusiasm has meant a great deal to our small team. We a…
