A run that ends.

Snugfang has always been an endless flood. 1.5 adds the other thing: a run with a last stage, a logbook that counts what you've actually done, and thirteen trials with a clock on them. This is FATHOMS.

FATHOMS — pick your route, clear every stage

A new couch mode that can be finished. Three depths, each a fixed ladder of stages: SHALLOWS (6 stages), TRENCH (7) and ABYSS (8). Rounds inside a stage stay a readable length — the flood only steps up when you cross a stage boundary, never underneath you mid-round.
At every boundary the run stops and offers you a slate of modifier cards. You pick the one you'll be living with for the next stage, and that choice is the run. A permanent STAGE n/N readout sits on the HUD with a pip for every stage you've cleared, so you always know how much is left. Each depth keeps its own record.

THE CHALLENGE LOGBOOK

Fifteen challenges across five tabs — CARDS, BIOMES, MODES, TIERS and SKILL. Some are collections (try every card, see every biome, play every mode, clear every tide); the rest are single moments worth going after, like chaining three clutch saves in one run or winning a round on your own.
Every row states what it wants and how far in you are, each tab counts its own, and the screen tells you what the whole book stands at. Finish one and the round-over screen names it. Enough of them unlocks two new looks — Barnaclecrust and Kelpwrap.

TRIALS

Thirteen single-round challenges on HOME WATERS and SNOUT SHOALS, each with a bronze, silver and gold time to beat. Everything about a trial is fixed — the biome, the mode, the difficulty, the opening card, even the bots you're up against — so the only variable left is you, and two attempts are genuinely comparable.
Each trial keeps its own record. A trial attempt never touches your real personal bests.

Five arena shapes

The arena is no longer always a circle. Alongside OPEN WATER there are four new layouts to pick in the lobby:

  • THE RIB CAGE — pillars inside the ring; cover, and things to get caught on.
  • THE TIDAL SHELF — a dry ledge the tide provably takes away.
  • THE SUNKEN VAULT — a roofed pocket where you cannot surface for air.
  • THE TWIN BASIN — two overlapping lobes instead of one boundary, so the crew can be split.

Couch only. Online still runs SURVIVAL on OPEN WATER, untouched.

You can actually see it now

  • The arena boundary is drawn from round 0 instead of only appearing once the arena starts shrinking.
  • Snugfang itself is bigger, and now reads as the largest silhouette in frame.
  • The submerged half of the screen carries real suspended particulate instead of flat dark.
  • The horizon's spires and reef shards are planted in the seabed rather than floating above it.
  • Every tide step lands a short camera punch, so the flood rising is something you feel and not just a number.

Fixes

  • The lobby's rule line for the new mode read "rule set to be defined" — a developer placeholder, in all 12 languages. It now says what the mode actually does.
  • The Logbook screen's bottom third was empty plate; every row now carries its own description and the screen ends in a progress bar and a nav hint.
  • The route-choice screen had the previous round's result card and the buoy's outline drawn straight through it, cutting the offer text. Both stand down while the modal is up.
  • Trial attempts could overwrite a real personal best. They can't now.
  • An online client joining a host's biome could build the world before the biome was applied.

Snugfang is still free, so feedback is still the only currency I take. Thanks for playing, and for talking to me.

DENEMELER: HOME WATERS ve SNOUT SHOALS üzerinde on üç tek-round meydan okuma, her birinde bronz/gümüş/altın süre.

Now you can see it. No new cards this time. 1.3 is a clarity patch: the round-over screen finally answers its own question, every card tells you what it does, and two things the game has been doing to you since launch are visible for the first time.
