World Economy Update

I'm excited to introduce the World Economy, a new layer to War of Dots' world mode.

Every player now starts with $1000 to invest across a range of stocks, or to hold as cash if they'd rather play it safe. The combined net worth of every player in a nation becomes that nation's economy, and the bigger a nation's economy is relative to the others, the more territory it captures each day. It's the ratio between nations that matters, not the raw number, so a strong economy is now just as important to nation's success as winning matches.

The stock market itself is deliberately straightforward for now. Prices aren't driven by real player demand, since that would open the door to exploits. Instead they follow Geometric Brownian Motion, which produces realistic-looking movement without anything to game. The underlying parameters are kept secret and will change from time to time. It's a simple foundation, and one I'll keep building on to make the market more interesting over time.

Alongside this, the entire World Mode UI has been redesigned to match the visual style of the rest of the game.

Let the trade begin.
