Meow Squad: Incremental Fishing · published
Hello everyone! The boss fights have now progressed to the third map!
The boss of the third map is the Electric Eel Overlord. In our early design, its only attack was ramming, just mindlessly charging at the player to deal damage. But honestly, it felt pretty boring to play. Now we've given it a major overhaul. After the rework, the Electric Eel Overlord also fires bullet patterns, and the bullets even shift their positions a bit as they travel. Of course, keeping the casual, relaxing nature of an incremental game in mind, we didn't make the bullet patterns too difficult.
We also added a tiny bit of story, really just a little. But the story does serve a purpose. After the player defeats the Electric Eel Overlord's first phase, a little sea turtle will restore the player's health. We figured some players like to enter the second phase with full health. If they took damage during the first phase, they'd just restart the fight. Doing that too many times really hurts the experience, and it goes against our intention of making a laid-back, relaxing game. So we added a health recovery mechanic.
After the first phase ends, the Electric Eel Overlord gets enraged and enters phase two. In the second phase, the boss has two main skills: Atomic Breath and Lightning Slash.
The Electric Eel Overlord must have learned a thing or two from Godzilla at the bottom of the sea. It charges up its whole body, then unleashes a blue radioactive heat ray straight at the player.
The Electric Eel Overlord continuously summons lightning that crisscrosses the seabed, and the player has to keep dodging the strikes.
Feel free to follow Happy Universe Studios, our other games are pretty fun too!
