Letters Of Marque Playtest · published · build 24267029

Major Features:
- The AI now fights back
- Added a variety of AI and group sizes to the world to test the AI
- Added input remapping
- Added controller support to battles. There will not be controller support in port. Partial overworld support may come later
- Added an extra step to the game's launching process to automatically detect your GPU and boot up the game with the correct rendering backend
Most users will no longer have to select a startup option other than the new default
Nvidia 5xxx series, AMD 5xx, and Intel GPUs are the current GPUs known to require manual intervention. If you encounter problems with white water, crazy white lighting, or white whales, I'll add your configuration to the new workaround system (or harpoon as appropriate)
The old launch options will remain available in case you encounter any problems. The vulkan backend has better performance for many GPUs, so testing is very helpful
Minor Features:
- Removed the 'use pedals' option, as rudder pedal support is now rolled into general controller support. Pedals and controllers are now always enabled in battles, and coexist seamlessly with keyboard controls
- Added a shadow rudder slider to indicate the desired target pedal/controller rudder angle
- Added right click -> View On Market for inventory items
Minor Changes:
- Increased the angular inertia of the boats during collision by 15%. Ie they'll spin a bit less easily
- Temporarily removed the test trade convoy
- Minor lighting improvements
- Minor colour grading improvements
- Temporarily reduced the number of trees
- Increased the realism of the ship roll while sinking
Bugfixes:
- Speculative crash fix for when boats leave battle
- Fixed an issue where water could become jittery if the server's been left up for more than a few days
- Possible root cause fix for the white water problem
