Steer the hull, and shot inside a cone off the nose. The hull comes round far slower than the old free-spinning gun did.
Enemies fire through their own arc and turn at their own rate, and they now break for your rear instead of sitting on your nose. Get behind one and you can hit it for critical damage.
Incoming missiles used to be close to unavoidable. They are faster now but turn much less hard, so a committed turn or a boost takes you off the line instead of just delaying the hit.
