Game Overlay Translator · published
Every item in this update comes from community hub reports and reviews — thank you. It fixes a long-standing bug in the color settings, adds a real preview of your overlay style, makes gamepad assignments readable, and adds an optional translate/clear cycle key.
FIX: The three color pickers in Settings (text color, box color, region frame color) did nothing when clicked. The color dialog module had been missing from the packaged app for months, and the click failed silently, which made it look like the settings were simply ignored. All three now open the color dialog properly. We also added a permanent automated check to our release process so this class of packaging omission cannot ship again. Thanks to the player who pinned this down on the community hub.
NEW: Settings now shows a mini preview of the overlay, drawn by the exact same rendering engine the app uses in game. Text color, box color, background mode and the region frame color are all reflected in it as you change them. Also, picking a box color now automatically switches the background mode to solid color, so your choice takes effect immediately instead of silently doing nothing in inpaint mode — a status message tells you when this switch happens. One known rough edge: changing the box opacity is hard to see in the preview, because the sample backdrop is too dark for the difference to show. It is applied to the real overlay correctly — a coming update will make the preview show it clearly.
NEW: Gamepad assignments are now shown with controller-specific button names — for example ×+SHARE(B2+B9) on a DualShock 4 — instead of only the generic B-numbers, as promised in the v1.46 notes. Unknown controllers keep the B notation, and Xbox-style pads keep A/B/X/Y.
NEW: Optional cycle hotkeys, requested on the community hub. One key that translates when no translation is on screen, and clears the overlay when one is: press to translate, press again to clear, press again to translate. Handy on a gamepad, where buttons are scarce. Two variants — full screen and selected regions — and both are unassigned by default: set them in Settings under Hotkeys or Gamepad.
