Hello, Generals!

It's Genesis Devlog Friday, and today we're bringing back an old flame. If you played the original Kingdom Rush, you've met him already: the walking torch called Ignus, ready to burn enemies with the blaze of a thousand stars. But he wasn't always like this. Before the elemental, there was a wizard. Sort of.

You see, Ignus never fit in with the other mages. While his peers in the Arcane Academy spent years buried in dusty tomes debating the finer points of the mystical arts, he was the impatient one, and yes, the one setting books on fire "by accident" during lectures. So when the time came to pick a specialization, the choice made itself: he would master what best matched his temperament. Fire.

Here's the other thing that made him such an odd fit in the Academy. Your average wizard tolerates physical exercise only when absolutely necessary, such as running away from an alchemical experiment gone wrong. Ignus, however, had little patience for standing around while his spells did the fighting. He trained his body to match his magic, so he could get up close and personal. That discipline eventually led to his signature trick: wrapping himself in living flame.

At first he could only hold that form for a few moments. Then minutes. Then entire battles. In Genesis we catch him just shy of the finish line: the flame burns nearly around the clock, and his human form only resurfaces in short flashes he can't quite suppress. By the time of the original Kingdom Rush, he doesn't turn it off at all. And honestly, why would he? The fire suited him from the start. By now, it's just home.

A sorcerer this allergic to rules was never going to sit out Vez'nan's attempts to seize power. Ignus joins Gerald and the party to put an end to it, personally, and at very close range.

That's all for this week. By fire be purged!

Onward!

It's Genesis Devlog Friday, and today we're opening a door we probably shouldn't. Veteran Generals will need half a second to recognize him: the towering red warrior, the burning blades, the name demon armies learned to say quietly. Yes, Oni is joining the ranks in Kingdom Rush Genesis! That was the easy part of this devlog. The hard part is telling you where this mysterious fi…Community28 Aug 2026Genesis Devlog #26: 15 Years of Rushing!Hello, Generals! Most weeks you come here for news about the game. This week we're handing the devlog over to you instead, because fifteen years of Kingdom Rush is your milestone as much as ours.
