Hello to everyone looking forward to City God Alice. It has been a while. I am Cat Skin, the producer of City God Alice.
First of all, we would like to apologize. Over the past six months, we have devoted almost all of our time to developing the game’s core systems. Before we knew it, half a year had passed without us sharing any updates.
We originally believed that, until we had made enough meaningful progress, it would be better to wait until we had something substantial to show rather than frequently sharing small and fragmented updates. During this period, we therefore tried our best to resist the urge to promote the game everywhere and instead focused our attention on development.
However, since May, we have received more and more messages from players across various community platforms asking, “How is the development of City God Alice going?” We would therefore like to use this developer log to share a complete update on our current progress.
Following two physical exhibitions in Taipei and the feedback we received from many players and fellow developers, we focused on completing several important areas over the past six months.
We reorganized the overall interface and control flow so that players can understand each function more intuitively and enjoy a smoother gameplay experience.
The original combat system has been redesigned from the ground up, and the fundamental turn-based combat mechanics are now complete. The controls, overall flow, and pacing are all more polished than before.
The City God Temple hub is one of the game’s central gameplay systems. Its main flow has now been established, including party formation, equipment management, and mission deployment. We have also completed an initial round of testing at a developer meetup.
Resource management, upgrades, and character progression systems are still under development. Overall, however, we have finally completed the core foundation needed to support the game’s main storyline.
We will soon take this more complete version of the game to physical exhibitions overseas, allowing more international players to experience City God Alice for themselves.
Below is an overview of the game’s version history and our upcoming development plans:
Version 0.3: Presented in Taipei from late 2025 to early 2026, showcasing the game’s world, visual style, and basic exploration gameplay.
Versions 0.4–0.45: Scheduled to appear at BIC Festival in South Korea and gamescom in Germany in 2026, offering a more detailed look at exploration, combat, and the currently completed portions of the hub system.
Version 0.5: Planned for exhibition at Tokyo Game Show, with the story progressing from the prologue into part of Chapter One.
Because playtime at physical exhibitions is limited, we also plan to release both an online Demo and an on-site Demo during Tokyo Game Show.
The on-site version will be based on the final optimized build of Version 0.4, allowing players to experience the core gameplay systems that have been completed so far. Meanwhile, the limited-time Version 0.5 Demo will offer the first playable portion of Chapter One, giving everyone an early look at how the story of City God Alice continues.
We would also like to share some good news.
In preparation for our upcoming international exhibitions, the English, Japanese, and Korean localization of the game’s script has been completed. This means that City God Alice will finally be able to officially meet even more players around the world.
Although we have rarely shared public updates over the past six months, development has never stopped. Instead, we chose to invest our time in the parts of the game that players will actually play and experience. We hope that every public showcase will present a more complete experience than the one before it.
Over the next few months, we will continue gathering player feedback through overseas exhibitions and working toward the full version of the game.
Before each exhibition begins, we also plan to gradually reveal more development details and progress updates, allowing everyone to witness the continued growth of City God Alice.
Thank you very much to everyone who has supported and patiently waited for City God Alice. Please look forward to what we will show you next.
See you in our next update!
