I wanted to give you a quick update on how Chapter 3 is progressing. Development is moving forward steadily, and most of my time right now is focused on creating renders and polishing scenes to make sure the chapter feels cohesive from beginning to end.
Chapter 3 is shaping up to be the largest chapter of the game so far. It contains a lot of important character moments, relationship development, and choices that will have a noticeable impact on future events. One thing I'm particularly excited about is that, for the first time, the story features two clearly distinct paths for players to follow. Depending on your choices, Chapter 3 can offer different interactions, perspectives, and experiences while still contributing to the larger story as a whole. Because of that, I'm taking extra time to make sure the pacing and emotional beats land the way I want them to.
Previously, my workflow was fairly straightforward: I would create renders, post-process them, write and implement the scenes, add soundtracks, and finally work on animations. However, due to the size of Chapter 3, I quickly realized that approach would become difficult to manage. Instead, I'm now developing the chapter scene by scene, completing everything for each section before moving on to the next. This helps me stay organized and gives me a much better overview of the chapter's overall quality and pacing.
A significant portion of the render work has already been completed, and new scenes are being produced on a regular basis. Recently, I've also been spending extra time refining camera work and visual storytelling to make conversations feel more dynamic and immersive. At the same time, I'm experimenting with new workflows that can help me work more efficiently without losing the atmosphere and emotional feeling that make Behind Closed Doors what it is.
As a small teaser, I'm sharing two renders from Chapter 3 with this post. They should give you a glimpse of the visual direction and atmosphere I'm aiming for in the upcoming chapter. As always, game development is a marathon rather than a sprint, but I'm very happy with how things are coming together. Every week the project gets closer to the vision I have had for it since the beginning.
Thank you all for your patience, support, and encouragement. Your support allows me to keep pushing forward and dedicate the time needed to create the best experience possible.
More updates will follow as development progresses.
Much love,
Ennushka
