The Journey So Far

It's been a little over a month since the steam page and demo have been released. Thank you all for taking a look, and playing the demo. For those who left me feedback, that's been super helpful! Even if its just telling me you enjoyed the demo or did not enjoy it.

I've been very busy making small changes, especially around quality of life. Overall though no bugs have been reported and the reception has far exceeded my expectations.

Localization

As I mentioned in my first post localization is a top priority. With this update I am introducing the following additional languages: Arabic, Spanish, French, and Russian.

For now the localization is for all in game text, including the UI. Voice clips will come after, probably closer to release.

Verifying voice clips takes a long time. Voicing this game has been the most difficult task in the project so I do want to push it back closer to when the game is near a final state. Additionally voice clips take up a lot of space. I am looking at options of how to deliver the localized voice without having to ship all languages to everyone and just take up disk space.

Steam Deck Support Incoming

I heard the feedback. I ordered a Steam Deck. The port should be straight forward but I did note that the game uses a slightly higher native resolution than the Steam Deck. I want to make sure its accessible and players can read the text clearly.

MacOS Support

Once the Steam Deck port is done I will work on supporting MacOS. This game will probably run fine on a Mac Neo.

More Demo Content Incoming

I hope to add about half of chapter 3 to the demo. Chapter 3 is considerably longer than the first two chapters, which are meant to be more of an intro. Chapter 3 is also where consequences start to build up, and the player has a lot more locations and characters to interact with.

Expect this early to mid September.

In-game event18 Aug 2026Steam Deck and Controller SupportSteam Deck Support The Red Weight now has full controller support, and a version of the interface built for the Steam Deck's screen. On the Steam Deck, the game runs at the panel's native 1280x800 instead of letterboxing a 720 canvas, and I went hunting for more room on top of that, shaving 10 extra pixels out of the title bar and handing every reclaimed row to the story text box. The interface…Game update12 Jul 2026Demo Quality of Life UpdateOver the weekend I pushed out several updates that are quality of life to the demo: · An end screen will greet you at the end with the choices you made. · Amara's conversation has been extended to help find the different outcomes. · Najma's vignette portrait has been replaced with one that represents her better. · Surfaced a bit more reactivity to the player's choices. If you have already playe…
